There's a potato shortage.
A potato famine then?
Chill out patty...oops pakky. Not quite that bad yet.
Not just you. I only needed three decent sized russets the other night for dinner. All they had were sweet potatoes. Which I have no issue with. But I wanted russets. I bought a three lb bag of them. And none of them were a decent size! I had to bake 6 freaking potatoes to feed three people! This summer, in addition to my laying hens. I am planning on growing potatoes, garlic and some other veggies. Even if I do have to move the garden space to where there's more sunlight
You could grow potatoes in buckets or other containers, without having to move your garden

If you plan on garlic for this summer, you are too late. It needs to be planted in the fall for harvest this coming summer. At least that's what I was told. I planted my first bunch last October.
Do you have a BJ's membership? I found good Russets there. $6.89 for a 10lb bag. As other commenters mentioned, there's a potato shortage.
Big Y. Never let me down
It’s a world class market!
Honestly… Trader Joe’s.
The world is less than ideal currently.
Those weren't 1/4 sized apples. Those were just husky cranberries.
Except for BJs, all the produce in my locals has been shit of late.
Honestly we have 3 grocery stores within like 2 miles. Stop and shop is constantly out of like broccoli and green beans, Shaws has half rotten produce on the shelves, market basket is the only one fully stocked, but it’s so much of a shitshow to even walk in there that it’s barely worth going.
A local farmers market? Potatoes are one thing you can often find outside of growing season.
Roche Bros had lots of potatoes
Wegmans, Whole Foods or BJs!
>Where can I buy potatoes?
Hadley or Hatfield, but only in season.
We were dodging piles of them on the roadside for months after
>green and created a horrific odor
Hail solanine!
AFAIK if you want them to keep you have to store them somewhere dark; a closet or basement or the proverbial "root cellar"
Pricerite, have had a lot of luck with the produce there. I will say though- I typically shop every few days so food doesn't sit long enough to go bad. I've heard other people say that their produce goes bad quickly which is why it's discounted- I've not had that problem.
Where abouts in mass are you guys? I'm not seeing any shortages here in south eastern mass.
Big Y has always had a good supply.
>A bag of five carrots is 3 dollars now.
A bag of baby carrots is like $0.89 at Lidl/aldi
Lambert’s on Morrissey Blvd Dorchester
Big Y has all kind of local organic potatoes that slap, at least near me.
Get used to shortages like this. We'll be seeing them more frequently as the climate shifts.
lol
Whole foods, get some Purple Sweet potatoes.
I'm in central Mass and am surprised to hear people say there is a potato shortage. All of the super markets I frequent have plenty of all kinds of potatoes and the prices have been lower than I've seen them in a while.
They are just about the only thing in the grocery store that is down in price.
Why not go to one of the farms directly. Not sure where you live but there are even some close to Boston.
Damn. Potatoes are fine down here in FL. Maybe a side gig shipping taters up north?
Some people are helpless.

Apples were effected by the drought - they didn't really rot, but with less water, they didn't grow as large.
Potatoes - don't shop on Sunday afternoon with everyone else.
