We went on a 6th grade field trip there. I remember a girl picked something up off the ground to ask me what it was and I had to inform her it was deer poop.

No way Tom’s River should be considered Central Jersey. I live in the heart of central Jersey (somerset county) and it’s not even close. Tom’s River is shore territory.

That said, I originally thought it was Cheesequake Marshlands aka Matawan Creek.

Yes! I’d like to thank my youngest brother (he’s out here somewhere on Reddit and won’t tell me his name) he introduced me to this lovely spot. Very beautiful. I recommend checking it out. This was a fun game!

It’s a trick question. Central Jersey doesn’t actually exist.

The ashes of my Grandparents and my Uncle have been spread in that cove over the years. I wasn't exactly on board with that but my Nan (Grandmother) loved Cattus because it reminded her of where she grew up in England so, because we couldn't split them up, that's where they are. It's a beautiful place to go visit them.

Grew up just outside TR. it absolutely does. Felt the “same” with everything up to about Woodbridge. Start heading south of TR into Lacey and south THEN shit starts getting weird.

ajfili t1_j9tyq56 wrote

Problem is you can’t draw that line by county. Grew up touching TR.

Southern Ocean County I’ve experienced “lawnmower racing” fueled by everyone drinking home made moonshine out of mason jars.

That shit does not happen in the northern half.

Alright, try to follow closely. North Jersey is anything North of the Driscoll Bridge (Raritan River) to the NY State line, while Central Jersey is anything South of the Driscoll Bridge down to Lacey Twnshp (where TR is within), and South Jersey is anything from Lacey Twnshp down to Cape May. These areas run East to West from the Shore to the Delaware Bay/River/PA State line. Everyone who disagrees about this are splitting hairs for the sake of being argumentative (that would be you) and most likely call Pork Roll 'Taylor Ham', drive like idiots, and root for the Eagles.

Nobody was arguing simply repectfully disagreeing,,,,also, yes I say Taylor Ham, I used to drive like an idiot, and hate the Eagles. My part of central Jersey roots for the G-men!

It's a shame Bellcrest Plaza is the way it is now. It used to have some good stuff in it - Arcade, pool hall, pet store, pizzaria, etc. Still has potential, but I doubt anything good comes of it

That arcade had Pengo, which I loved, and some kick-ass Pinball machines. I miss the old Lane Drugs and McCrory's that used to be there way back when and the Foodtown is gone now as well. I was the Courier for Foodtown at the time when they closed down. It was a great job and I miss it. Now there's a chicken joint, a restaurant called Tardi's which is pretty good, there's a DQ and a gym, and the Burger King is now a Joe's Bagels. Driftwood Deli is still across the street though and still very good. I recommend the number 22.

Tom's river is designated as south jersey as its part of ocean county. As someone who lives in upper Monmouth County I do consider Tom's river south jersey.
