I have such a low opinion of Political Science professors after a Harvard professor on NPR who was openly republican tried to "both sides" the situation around political extremists. He gave the whole, pendulum swinging but the ideal is probably somewhere in the middle, while also blaming the left for domestic terrorism as if it's anywhere near as prevalent as the right wing loons.

Study's have found that 96% of BLM protests were peaceful. But you racists love focusing on the ones that got out of hand. No one's applauding those but you go ahead and keep trying to belittle a movement because you're scared of isolated incidents.

Educate yourself because you're embarrassing yourself.

Pretty sure the folks who advocate for genocide, racial separation, and white supremacy are absolutely the worse side, but if you want to tell me how those might be positive things, I’m willing to listen.

I’m also not sure what mass shootings have been perpetrated or “low income cities” have been burned down by anyone credibly claiming to be left wing, but again, I’m willing to listen. The protests in cities in 2020 aren’t gonna count, those aren’t low income cities, those are cities with multi billion dollar budgets.

Whenever the government comes out with an update about the most pressing dangers regarding domestic terrorism, it’s always ultra right wingers that are the problem.

Yet somehow folks who spend most of their time working with Food Not Bombs or working mutual aid projects are the favorite boogeyman of the right?

Fun fact, police started the vast majority of riots in the last couple decades. Look up "police riots", police violently dispersing peaceful protests causes riots. But to answer you, no there is no equivalency and to pretend there is when you are supposed to be a expert in your field is fucking absurd.

Funny enough, I was a Grade below him. We were in jazz ensemble and select choir together. I remember him gloating about how he was going to Princeton. We were also in Model Congress together, and he was that conservative, but I didn’t think he was insane enough to do something like this. I also wish that I could be in a political science department just to hear what everyone is saying about him!

The school is run and endowed mostly by assholes. It’s expected that these types would get in bc these people look out for their own. It’s hardly about merit if you dig deeper into adcom files and precisely who is on the adcom.

I went to high school with a kid who got into Princeton. His sister also did. Their mother is an admissions officer there. I wonder how both of her kids, who are fairly average among the Princeton student body, managed to get in 🤨

Edit: one of the kids is now an admissions officer at Princeton too. I wonder how they got that position with no experience in the field 🥴 the bs cycle continues 😂😂

Seriously. The political debate in this country is cracked.

As a starting point, we've drifted so far to the right that when people refer to "the left" they aren't actually referring to actual Leftists, but rather fellow market capitalists who simply belive that a consumer economy works better when the consumers actually have some money to spend.

The U.S. Hasn't had significant political violence from the Left since the Weather Underground in the 70s. Meanwhile, rightwing fundies have been murdering doctors and blowing up medical offices since the 1980s. The whole racist wing has been claiming the South will rise again and has been engaging in political violence to spark a race war since forever. You had Sthe GOP outright steal the 2000 election with the Brooks Brothers Riot at the ballot counting facility, and then try to recreate the same in 2020 culminating in a straight up attempted coup - - with gallows and all - - at the U. S. Congress.

It's amazing how sycophants both sides this issue. They don't give a fuck about America. They care about manipulating people to get their way.

I too graduated from Southern Regional, many years before him. That area of NJ(Southern Ocean County) is unfortunately full of these Trump supporting confederates. Just take a look at who is running the local offices there. They even ran out some of the more moderate Republicans who hadn't quite finished drinking their entire glass of kool-aid yet.

It's a shame that someone like this took up a spot at Princeton that could have been used by someone who doesn't try to violently overthrow America.

I had a political science professor in community college who downplayed Republican extremism back during the 2016 election and sort of mocked students who talked about how afraid they were of the possibility of Trump winning. He acted condescending and told us how things wouldn’t change much because Republicans don’t government as extremely as social media makes people think they do.

Well said, here's another tibbit of how far right we've gone: The wingnuts were claiming that Justice Kennedy was a bleeding heart liberal during his last few years. He was nominated to the court in 1987 by none other than Ronald Reagan. As people say: Reagan, the right's ultimate hero before DT took that mantle wouldn't even make the GOP primary in this day and age, he'd be booed off the stage.
