Nice to see Black men as the lead in a mostly all-white cast. Great change.

I saw the first 3 episodes (market research) and uhh...that guy isn't the lead. Chance Perdomo (not pictured) has the largest role out of Black men but the lead is a woman.

The picture at the top seems like they just might have thrown darts at names of people who were cast even without knowing what their role is.

Actually, looking into it, two aren't. Carrero and McGhie both left. I think they literally just looked for the first sentence of people cast on wikipedia because it's the three in the picture. They didn't read two sentences further to two of those people leaving.

I was kind of wracking my brain trying to place two of them and yeah, I came up blank because they literally are not in it.

EDIT: They have changed the picture. I wonder if someone there saw this?

Curious that the picture shows Aimee Carrero, pretty sure she pulled out of the project a while ago.

Seems like it may depend how well they're able to keep the tone of the original or of they lean into some YA bullshit.

Idk The Boys was pretty good overall I feel, just because they’re making a spin-off doesn’t have to mean it’ll be bad.

Though I will say, I am so tired of things being based in college - but that might be just me.

I love the boys. It’s one of my favorite shows. I was even a moderator on the sub for a while.

I just don’t think this show sounds good at all.

At first blush it didn’t to me either, but when I saw that (and idk how true this really is) it was the idea of being a play on X Men - I got more into it. I feel like the writers probably know the pitfalls to avoid, they know we don’t just want to watch horny teens - so I’m excited for it.

I'm still curious if The Boys will make two more good seasons. Season three was a mixed bag for me. I really want the next two final seasons to be great, but the show and concept just feels to be running out of steam. I hope I'm wrong about that and we get two more fantastic seasons.

This spin-off? Meh. I might watch if it gets great reviews. But really, not everything needs a dozen seasons, reboots, spin-offs, etc.

Nah I agree. S3 just felt like it was continuing the same "will Homelander turn of the public or won't he?" treadmill that it's been running on since S1. It feels like everything always ends up back at status quo no matter what happens.

Well put. No matter what they did in season 3—repeatedly—everything went back to where they started.

I loved season 1 & 2. Honestly, my guess is I won't like what they do with season 4. Maybe they'll pull the ending together for the final season. I haven't read where the comic books end, so I have no idea where or if they are going with that same ending. Who knows. After season 3, I'm only mildly looking forward to season 4.

Shame.

I really disliked Season 3, and especially what they did to Hughie for no reason other than to manufacture dumb relationship drama. Felt like a plotline out of a CW show or something. I really disliked how when people pointed some of these flaws out, Kripke went on a Twitter rant about how anyone who dared criticize his writing is obviously just an incel or a misogynist.

I was never much of a fan of Supernatural or the writing there, so I was surprised when the first two seasons of The Boys were so solid. Now I'm starting to see those same cheesy, completely manufactured plot choices pop up in this series as well. I'm still probably going to check out Season 4, but my expectations are pretty low, and if it turns into more dumb, manufactured relationship drama I'll probably give up on it entirely. Meanwhile this spin off feels like the absolute worst parts of The Boys personified.

It happens all the time. On shows that wind up amazing and horrible ones. It's generally a scheduling thing. They didn't drop out after it was in production.

I would mainly be curious as to whether this series may very well have Cassidy (from Preacher) pop up in it, given it is adapting the arc of The Boys where Cassidy showed up (and how when saying how different Gen V would be from The Boys, Eric Kripke brought up how “Baywatch Nights spun-off from Baywatch, and it had vampires. Vampires!”).

It is quite literally (loosely) adapting the one major arc of The Boys the main television series elected to skip, yes, featuring their take on the X-Men (the G-Men, the ‘G’ being the Godolkin of this series’ Godolkin University / God U).

The general belief is that the arcs they have left to adapt will last them two more seasons.
