I feel the same about a romantic partner.
I think the problem is we aren’t getting the chemicals we need and should be getting from these interactions.
I think we are defecient in something and it cause primary and secondary issues.
Primary: A feeling of loneliness
Secondary: An inability to sate my social appetite
I’m talking out of my ass though. I think legitimately that therapy and mental health treatment is really the only way to address it properly at this time in our life.

I am wondering how they defined loneliness. I have had depression for a long time. I also struggle with loneliness. The real issue is this “loneliness” is not as simple as “I wish I wasn’t alone” and this feeling persists whether a person is around or even talking to me.
The result is, in the moment, I can feel connected, but as soon as direct interaction ends, I am directly back to being just as lonely. So looking back, it makes me feel like I was really alone for a long time.
There is something to be said about getting what you need out of an interaction NOW to avoid being lonely LATER

Reply to Scientists show for the 1st time that monkeys that are more sociable – eg, grooming or being groomed more often, & with more grooming partners – have a healthier gut microbiome. This is further evidence that in primates, social connectedness translates into good physical & mental health, & vice versa by MistWeaver80
I want to be socially connected, but I am finding our society is not set up in way that is very supportive of that.
Or maybe I’m just unlikeable

There seems to be an increasing gap between what scientists expect/recommend vs what is possible considering the reality of life as we know it.
I am an everyday person, and it’s to the point that I feel like it’s creating a class division.
Like “we recommend breast feeding for the first 2 years of the child’s life. “
Someone who has money could make that happen. Otherwise, there’s no way in hell.
I’d really enjoy it more if researchers realized what kind of life the disadvantaged live. They live such a different life that they are creating tests and data that is completely unattainable for most of the population.

I grew up with parents who smoked cigarettes. They changed to vapes like as soon as they came out. Before all the kids even had any.
My mom used to fill a paper plate with discharge from her lungs every morning.
She hasn’t done 1 time since vaping.
Yes, you’re still putting smoke and stimulants (and more) in your lungs, but it’s SO MUCH BETTER than real cigarettes. I’ve seen it first hand.
