They don't report to congress. They report to the president. Congress is a check on the executive branch, and congress sets the budget.
This doesn't mean the executive branch answers to congress. They're checks on each other.

You don't need a truck today, stop trying to talk yourself into it.
Buy a car you can afford. Based on the info you gave, you can't afford any of the options listed.

Reply to CPR training kiosk at the airport. by wildo83
I know this will get buried, but I had a layover at an airport that had one of these. I thought....eh, sure, why not. It was loud, and embarrassing in a super busy concourse, but super memorable at drilling in the cadence and strength needed to do chest compressions. It's an experience you might easily chalk up to a waste of time, or something only an outgoing person might do to burn a few minutes.
Except a few years later one of my best friends heart stopped right in front of me. I immediately rolled him over, started compressions, and restarted his heart in about 75 seconds. It was like clockwork, just like I remembered on the machine "ahhh, ahh, ah, ah, staying alive, staying alive". I kept repeating it in my head to keep the beat. Staying alive, staying alive. And he did stay alive. His heart restarted on it's own, he went to the hospital, and had zero long term side effects.
So if you guys see one of these things, go ahead and use it. It might save your best friends life.

I bet it's the lowest spot in the basement, and any leaked water is naturally going underneath the flooring to that point.
Tear it up; I bet you they covered over a sump to finish the basement the cheap/easy way.

>As for the take home pay, you are missing out a lot.
It was a 2 sentence post, it wasn't meant to be comprehensive. All your points are accurate, but my take away is still accurate; you will likely be poorer in the Netherlands than in the US with the same job, and this is backed by disposable income stats.
If you're willing to trade being a little poorer for better social safety nets and a beautiful, walkable city, that's great. It's nice when everyone is allowed to make choices that fit their preferences.

If you're not a skilled worker, they don't want you. If you are, you'll take a home a ton less money while paying the same rent, and more for auto costs. In reality, you will ONLY ride a bike and take transit because you can't afford otherwise.

90% of the personal finance sub is people basically complaining about their out of whack priorities, and then complaining about the common sense solutions everyone proposes.

They're really fishers, but that's a hard life in the 21st century. Since they're basically reversed like Gods in the US, they have no fear of humans, and consequently don't mind scavenging a meal.

The myth that temperatures swings are more extreme on both sides only serves a very specific fallacy. Most of the world is getting warmer most of the year.

Their CEO also talked about the airing strategy, basically saying "the more often we show it back to back, the better the ratings of each individual airing"
So it's really the perfect storm, cheap, timeless, episodic, and compounds it's own success.

They give congress reports. They "report" to the president.
The president is their boss. Congress is not. Do you really not understand this?
