If you’re concerned at all about this then get involved with your school committee. They’re elected positions and they aren’t usually competitive races. In EP one Ward had a candidate who was part of the Gaspee project and had spoken at events discussing subverting school boards and also featuring Proudboys as speakers. She was beaten because she was outed and an organized resistance put up. Fight now, not later.

I don’t know if it’s an official rookery but I see them all the time on the Barrington/Riverside line. There’s a parking spot for birdwatching on 114 in Barrington where you could park to see them. It’s 5 minutes from the EP/Seekonk Home Depot spot another poster mentioned. There’s actually two birdwatching spots right there, one in Barrington and another a little closer to the radio station

Yep that’s central EP.

Im not sure if you’re new to the area overall so forgive me if this is redundant. If you’re near the Henderson check out HoneyBird. I finally got there and really liked it.

And if you haven’t ventured to Riverside square for Borealis they have the best coffee around.

It’s a Portuguese/Cape Veridian thing. East Providence is full of them.

The upstairs kitchen is the “show” kitchen. My friends that had these had a full getup like burner covers so you wouldn’t even see them. They literally never used the upstairs kitchen. They tended to have a show living room as well that had furniture covered in plastic and too we’re not allowed in there.

They actually cooked in the downstairs kitchen.

The Strand hasn’t been the same since the 90s when it was a dedicated music venue. This was back when Lupos was in the old Woolworth building and there were a few other venues like babyhead etc.

The plus side back then was they had a ton of regional and newer/smaller national acts. I saw Alanna Miles there lol. The downside back then was that it was a total dump.

Then they closed and reopened later in partnership with Lupos. They cleaned it up a little but I think that arrangement sucked. The band shows were too early and then the weird club shows were eating into the music. I saw better than Ezra during that time and the lighting people for the Strand club night actually started setting up lights and stuff while BTE were playing. I thought a fight was going to break out onstage. It was bad.

And now as other posters commented they aren’t a choice spot. Boston has MGM music hall and others that fill that niche. And without live nation dollars it’s hard to compete.

One thing about public transit in Rhode Island and in New England generally is the stops aren’t labeled well, built adequately and or/maintained and the routes aren’t marked clearly. The system isn’t easy to use and that will always impact ridership. A faded band with an old logo on a telephone pole on the side of the street is not an appropriate way to indicate that’s where a bus to a specific location stops. The dearth of sidewalks in most RI towns makes it even more precarious.

I’d fully support zero-fare. It would be great as part of a larger overhaul that clearly shows how to get people to different places throughout the state.

We’re Weaver regulars and their programs are fantastic. I believe their Head librarian (Ms Pam) is now in charge of all EP libraries. There’s also some good cafes in the area like Cafe Zara and Borealis for pre/post caffeination.
