Burlington has a store in Bangor, if it's still open. S. Portland too. I like taking a quick spin through there because you can get linens and tablecloths, Macy's equivalent of quilts and comforters, for decent prices. I still have one lightweight quilt that's just over 10 years old, in good shape.

I've always liked the Burnham area. Close enough to Waterville but definitely a country feel. I don't know anything about codes, though.

I personally would buy a developed property with either a ranch style or smaller older home to start. Then decide later if you want to rebuild or add new buildings. No need to reinvent the wheel by building from scratch.

I have a free ancient government Android Schok phone and YouTube has recently uploaded some old school movies. I get 4G LTE and my calls frequently drop. I own a lavender iPhone 12, but I can't afford the $55 monthly payment and I don't know how to download all the texts from my slimy landlord's niece who was his POA when he was in Otisville prison for dealing cocaine and I am at the end of my rope over here in Leeds, does that answer your fucking question?

I have researched all kinds of stuff, being a ghost writer and former newspaper writer

One thing I want to bring to your attention is stealth viruses. Humans are very symbiotic with the gut and mind body stuff, but I just read recently that they think MS is causes by the Epstein Barr virus aka Mononucleosis.

I used to eat at Cancun before they changed it to the bar in the middle of the dining room. Went back to visit Waterville last year or so and someone told me they'd been shut temporarily for health code violations. Sad to read about women getting roofied there.

I like Silver Street Tavern and there's a bar in Oakland on the way down Kennedy Memorial Drive on the right hand side, after all the little strip malls and stuff. I forget the name but it's a nice little place. Used to get lobster rolls from the Korner Store in Oakland. The beach at Messalonskee Lake has a nice green space and there is also a nice trail running alongside Messalonskee Stream in Oakland.

I lived off First Rangeway, there are several streets running between that and Cool Street and some have apartments but mostly single family homes. There's also a ballfield nearby so take that into account if it would bother you. But it's close to the Hannaford and all the stuff on KMD, I like J&S Oil for car washes, but KMD can get backed up on nice days by people waiting in line for a wash.

Uncle Dean's is a local health food store past the Hannaford on KMD and down a side road, 104, I think? There's also a sushi place next to the Hannaford that does the flaming stainless steel grill table side chef stuff, but I used to just get sushi in the dining room part. Scallop sashimi and gyoza pretty good.

Silver Street dentist is good.

Library is nice too. Watch out for panhandlers near the Goodwill and that whole sidewalk up and down the strip mall. Especially at night. I've never felt unsafe in Waterville but I'm sure you will be able to tell who's cool or not if you are coming from Bangor.

There was an article in Reader's Digest at least 20 years ago. They studied the rate of traffic accidents for people who didn't have their headlights on during the day, vs. those who did. No headlights showed a huge leap in accidents, even in good weather. Most modern cars have a setting for daytime running lights, which can be turned off if necessary, such as the person who doesn't want to blind their neighbors while backing into their driveway. It's a safety thing.

Lakeside Antiques in Manchester has some weird stuff. There's a booth on the far side of the ground floor where I got a giant preserves scorpion in a frame. Make sure you poke around upstairs as well. Think they are only open Wed-Sun, or something like that.

Twin Bridges Market in Leeds has a fake skeleton dressed in funky clothes, with a sign that says "Free hugs." I may have hugged the skeleton at least once. It's on the way to the river portage, which has an old cemetery and fantastic views of the Androscoggin River rapids. Free walking trails around the island.

So I'd visit Lakeside Antiques, then drive to Leeds, get a sub at Twin Bridges, hug the skeleton, and have a picnic at the river portage.

I have a poor memory for details when I'm skimming articles.

I've only been to California once, years ago. My friend took me to Long Beach and then he took me for a walk on some mountain trail with lots of greenery. I was amazed by the mountains, lol, because I had never really thought about SoCal as having them, don't ask me why. He was house sitting for some friends in a town named Arcadia. Weirdly, my grandmother from Dexter had a cousin who married a woman from California, and they lived in Arcadia. I just found out recently, when doing some genealogy research. But you are right. Nice beaches, btw.
