Check out hipcamp.com. I have had really good luck and found some great sites. One in Canterbury that I have been back to more than a few times.

Mr Sippy's in Rochester has some good BBQ.

Careful there lumping NY in with New England. Any of the better paying jobs will likely be in the southern part of the state. You have to tell more about your interests and what kinds of towns you want to live in.

Cold is one thing but we have not seen these temps in decades. It is one thing to be cold and another where frostbite can set in in less than 5 min.

If it would reduce the amount of campaigning I am all for it. It is one of the few things about NH that sucks, campaign season. It lasts forever and there is so much damn junk mail.

Just typed the same thing, did not see your response first. Great little theater.

Check out the Seacoast Rep theater. They put on some fantastic shows and it is a great little venue. It is really close to downtown too so easy to get dinner before or after a show. https://seacoastrep.org/

It is decriminalized for small amounts. Not legal but just a ticket.

This is always a fun activity in a lovely location. https://www.strawberybanke.org/skate.cfm
There is a restaurant nearby too, a little upscale but great. https://www.thepuddledock.com/menu
Another favorite of mine is Moxy, food is delicious and you can sample a bunch of small plates: www.moxyrestaurant.com. The Pressroom has music most nights www.pressroomnh.com. Street is a little out of the downtown area but definitely worth the trip. www.streetfood360.com
If you want to check out a cool new little art gallery go here: https://www.monaportsmouth.org and lastly This place opened recently and is pretty cool, just eat before you go. https://jimmysoncongress.com/

I would not care if it was set in my own town Jodi Picoult is a hard pass. I read one of her books and it was crushing. The Weight of Water is a pretty good book though.
