In USSR they had plans, and if they didnt produce all 1000 winter uniforms or whatever they just faked it, people on all level just signed the papers well aware that the uniforms may or may not exist, to avoid problems.

Reply to TIL in the 1920s, Coco Chanel accidentally got a tan, and helped inspire the trend of sunbathing. Soon "sunlight therapy" was prescribed for almost every ailment from fatigue to tuberculosis. Before this, tanned skin was associated with the lower classes who work outside, and fair skin was revered. by Pfeffer_Prinz
still today in some parts of asia pale skin = rich because dont have to work outside.

Reply to TIL If Coca-Cola's inventor had decided to file a patent application in 1892 instead of keeping the recipe a secret, patent protection would have expired long before Pepsi ever came onto the market in 1965. and if you patent it you must describe every ingredients, something they dont want to do, companies such as KFC keep their secrets very tight.
