My dad has a story about the flood that happened there when he was a kid…. Bodies were being washed out of the cemetery and floating down the street. He had to participate in the clean-up because his dad was the assistant fire chief. Wild.

I was always a WJAR (10, nbc) person but then during the pandemic they became one giant pharmaceutical commercial so now I watch WPRI 12 and it’s decent enough. ABC 6 is good to watch if you are looking for comedy blooper type stuff like moments of dead air and newscasters not looking into the correct camera.

I think it’s refreshing. Even took my lab out for a long walk because my snowflake kids wouldn’t do it. It wasn’t bad. Certainly not the coldest weather I’ve ever been in. At least it was nice and sunny.

Are you in Newport? There’s good sledding at Fort Adams and Middletown High school but there has to be more than a dusting on the ground. So far this winter it’s been really mild, I hope things pick up. I can remember as a kid getting so sick of seeing nothing but white for like 4 months but that doesn’t seem to happen anymore. Having 4-wheel drive is definitely much easier than two wheel but more expensive. Just drive super slow and cautious. I always hear about these 20 car pile-ups in places like Virginia when they get a dusting of snow. I guess they don’t know how to drive in snow there because that does not happen here. Maybe they just don’t know to salt the roads. All roads here are salted except dirt roads and around reservoirs.

Cost of living is too high, and bad Covid legislation hit healthcare workers especially hard here in RI the last two years, a lot were fired. Why stay if you can’t get employment? Easy to move to another state to work, even if it costs a couple hundred to get another license. Even my chiropractor left. Now they cry that the hospitals have no staff boo-hoo. You reap what you sow.

My electric bill was $65 dollars less than normal last month and then this month was $65 more than normal? What is going on? That’s some huge jumps considering nothings changed in my house. Its like $230 this month normally $160

I’m getting so fed up with RI Energy. Why do my paper bills never match the online balance? I can’t figure it out. So I pay the online one and then they tacked on $65 to the next bill because that was the difference between what the paper bill said and what the online said. I can’t figure it out. And also my usage was 100 higher than last year also but I just figured that that bill still had some AC usage on it.

I’ve been with Peoples Credit Union for a long time now, they are great, no problems and I have yet to be hit with a sneaky fee. My previous banks (Citizens, Bank Newport) would hold and reorder purchases in order to make a whole ream of things bounce so they could take out hundreds in fees. Sorry but you screw me one time like that and I’m gone and closing my accounts. The shit banks can get away with is unreal. Stick with a credit union.

So, in all the info it gives it does state in writing that you will have to keep up that certain GPA in order for it to be free, or you have to pay them back….but my kid flunked almost every class there for two semesters and then quit and we have yet to receive a bill and it’s been two years. I have the money squirreled away so I can just pay it if a bill actually comes but so far like I said….. no bill, no invoice…. Nothing. In 2 years. I’m not complaining. I don’t dare call them to ask what’s up lest they then bill me. You can’t get anyone on the phone there anyway, it’s like no one is minding the store. This is just our experience.

I take issue with this. My boyfriend has an e-bike because he is disabled and an amputee that’s the only bike he can have, otherwise I ride alone and can’t have him with me just because he can’t ride a regular bike? I don’t think so. He’s not running anyone over, we are not very fast. We are not setting any speed records, just trying to get some exercise and fresh air. On the other hand some regular non-electric bikes have people going like a million mph, training for the Tour De France especially in Western Coventry where there’s not many stops.
