JC needs more green spaces for sure and also has amazing natural spaces that people fight for every day.

many of us who live here don’t live here just to enjoy the hard-earned benefits of a great place, we work hard to improve our community AND enjoy what’s great already. (And bitch about the problems)

A big welcome if you’d like to live here and help. If not, wishing you the best and hope you lend a hand to improvement efforts in whatever city you end up in.

Thanks for responding! For bird proof glass, there are easy fixes that wouldn’t grind anything to a halt. I recommend American Bird Conservancy or NYC Audubon for more info. This is one area where individual actions can help, by bird proofing your windows and showing support for policies. And taking about it and raising awareness about turning off lights during spring and fall migration makes a difference.

This lovely timberdoodle (aka American Woodcock) was on his way south to spend the winter gently twerking while hunting for worms.

Instead he smashed into a window and died.

These beautiful birds have a staggering courtship display, a super strange “Peent peent” call, and deserve better from us.

Please turn off your outdoor lights and draw your curtains at night to protect all our migrating feathered friends.

Pseg is the worst. Definitely take a photo of the meters upon move in. If you can get them to email you it’s better to have a record. Tell them your next step is letting your NJ state rep (like Stack) or your city council member know if they are being truly useless.

That said I’d never seen a landlord ask for proof the services were set up before I arrived. Usually I’ve done it the day of or just after loving. Seems kinda odd to me.
