DGAF. Everything west of New Jersey doesn't exist. We only accept that New Jersey exists because we need something to collectively hate.

Most job boards (linkedin, indeed, etc) allow you to filter by "remote". Give that a try, probably have better luck than asking here.

Apparently, there is a $10 surcharge as another commenter pointed out. So this is not really a great plan for a short trip like Penn to Jamaica. That being said tickets can be refunded within a certain time window from purchase. Even if it was a round-trip and it was only punched going one way.
That being said, another commenter also pointed out that you should be able to grab a free ride from Penn to Jamaica if you present your MetroCard and inform the conductor that there is a service interruption preventing you from taking the E to Jamaica.

So you're saying you'll have $.75 burning a hole in your pocket. Man, I bet you'll be able to find a sick Street Fighter arcade machine somewhere.

Eh, I think it depends on a lot of factors. Eg: Peak/Off-peak, where you're located on the train, how on-time the train is etc. It happens. I've made the trip plenty of times, end-to-end on Ronkonkoma, and not been punched either way.

You should always buy a ticket, if it doesn't get punched you can refund it.

If you're close to, or it's easy to get to Penn Station, then you can always take aLIRR train. All trains stop at Jamaica (except Port Washington). And I'm pretty sure you get to Jamaica before they start collecting tickets. So there's a chance you'll ride free.
FINAL EDIT: You guys, we did it!!! They have a ticket specifically for going from Jamaica to Brooklyn or Penn. Its $5.75, and its called a City Pass.
EDIT: Apparently this may not be the best choice. Proceed accordingly. This maybe a $10 ride to Nowheresville.
EDIT 2: Apparently, there is a $10 surcharge as another commenter pointed out. So this is not really a great plan for a short trip like Penn to Jamaica. That being said tickets can be refunded within a certain time window from purchase. Even if it was a round-trip and it was only punched going one way.
EDIT 3a: That being said, another commenter also pointed out that you should be able to grab a free ride from Penn to Jamaica if you present your MetroCard and inform the conductor that there is a service interruption preventing you from taking the E to Jamaica.
EDIT 3b: This might not apply to planned service changes.
EDIT 4: Always purchase a ticket for the LIRR, my original comment was not to say that you shouldn't buy a ticket, just that you could get a refund if you don't get your ticket punched. But this isn't the best idea because: See edits above.

When you're feeling these episodes, try to slow your breathing. Look around the room, and start naming what you see and say it out loud. Say what you see in detail like color, like "yellow banana on the kitchen table"
This helps with anxiety attacks that borderline dissociation, it may help you while you're waiting to hear back from the resources you've reached out to.

I used heavy duty snap toggles to anchor the bolts I couldn’t find ways to mount directly or indirectly to the stud. I have zero experience with carpentry and a/v installation. Your results may vary. You may end up homeless and/or divorced. But at least you’ll be able to watch dragons set things on fire on HBO I guess.

I joke with my wife that our TV will still be standing even if our building collapses. I put so many goddamn heavy-duty anchors into my wall because I wasn't able to find more than one stud. +3 years later and the TV is snug against the wall, yolo

Reply to Rooftop Needed For First Date by AtmosFunk
If you want to sneak onto a roof, take your pick of buildings. Find one with a nice view, ring all the buzzers until someone buzzes you in, and head to the roof. Just make sure your date is holding enough cash for bail and you set up a meeting place for when they release you from holding.
Plenty of nice rooftop bars in the city though. Maybe do that.

Reply to Greenpoint Ferry to Manhattan by DatGopherAnIdiotBro
Commuting from Williamsburg to the Financial District via Ferry was more of a luxury when I did it rather than the most sensical means of transportation. Obviously, that's a different route than what you're asking, but I wouldn't imagine the experience is different. The ferries can become overcrowded during rush hour, especially coming home in the nice weather months. And if you're sensitive, there is a chance for motion sickness in choppy weather. Timewise, they can sometimes save you time, so long as your destinations are near the ferry landings.
The landings aren't very mass transit accessible in my experience. So unless you live/work right near the A and B of your trip, it might just be a warm-weather luxury for you as well.
