That entire area is boring. It's the quiet exurb smack dab in between Boston and the next "major" (minor) city. If you can't drive you'll need to find something in walking distance or get an e-bike or something.

Oh shoot now I understand why we don’t have it here. Our Fat Tuesday celebration isn’t based much at all on the New Orleans/French one. It’s based on the Polish one so we have Pączki instead.

RT 5 through West Springfield recently has been making me think about the highway infrastructure in the area. It could be argued that either RT 5 or 91 doesn’t have to exist as separate roads on separate sides of the river. From the Memorial bridge to the Riverdale shops you could just get rid of Rt 5. I know it’s a hot take but neither Springfield or West Springfield have a real waterfront district and that section already has a stretch of residential and the rest is useless car dealerships. There were apparently plans to bury 91 many moons ago but that seems more costly. That section of RT 5 is convenient but I wouldn’t be mad if it was gone.

It’s crazy due to the old indurstries there property values can be kind of low but they have really good municipal services including cheap symmetrical gigabit broadband.

Besides houses being really close to the street in the central parts it is home to 2 specific dangerous places to be a pedestrian, Chicopee Center, and the Walmart parking lot.

They’re also both right off of 391 and the pike.

Sundays are special in that typically the businesses that operate the most on them are retail hence why the wage increase was given to those workers. Weekends are factually busier at these establishments requiring more work as M-F workers are shopping at them.

The original intent and connotation be damned it was to encourage a day of rest and with the primary affected group being retail employees, which tend to be lower/working class it was excellent way to benefit those who have seen some of the worst wage growth (only worse are probably truck drivers) since their fruition. The world is a little quieter too when every retailer isn't open for 12 hours a day one day a week.
