That's true! Although I'd let the landlord make that determination instead of proactively offering that solution as a tenant.

If your bedroom is under 65 degrees overnight, I would put in writing that you will withhold whatever portion of your rent it costs to purchase these window insulators. If those solve your problem, great. If not, it's still their responsibility for the HVAC to be capable of heating your apartment and they would need to upgrade it or make other insulation improvements.

To answer your direct question: no, the mayor has no authority to remove members from City Council.

But it's a bit more complicated than that:

A recall effort is practically impossible even with unlimited money and resources because of the staggering amount of signatures required to remove a city-wide elected official. Amy is clearly not going to have a sudden change of heart and resign unless there is sufficient political pressure to do so.

So far, only 2/8 of the other city council members have called for DeGise's resignation. The other 6 all ran on Fulop's ticket in 2021. They would likely follow his lead if he were to do the right thing, but he needs the blessing of the Hudson County political machine (which DeGise and her father are very influential in) to run for NJ governor in 2025.

Fulop is hoping that this story will fizzle out by that time and nobody will associate him with it. He wants to keep the support of Hudson County Dems, but stay free of the stench of the hit and run story as he eyes statewide office.

Cafe Peanut on Newark Ave has got great food and a nice staff. Plenty of spots to sit and work.

This has happened to me too recently. My apartment was vacant for several months before we moved in, so the usage estimates were laughably low. The best option was to set up a repayment plan to spread the large sum across the next couple of bills.

I agree with you in terms of local streets not being highways, but cyclists also benefit from well maintained roads.

If you can't deal with 5 days of reduced parking for infrastructure, you are welcome to pony up for a reserved spot.

Market rates for reserved parking run at $150-200+ per month. Jersey City street parking is the biggest bargain there is and still folks like you will complain about having to walk a few extra blocks home for construction.

More pedestrians isn't the problem. The 4 lane state highway built through a residential neighborhood cutting off safe access to mass transportation is the problem.
