Yeesh, should these men just be put on the street? The incredible cruelty we show to the most downtrodden is hard to hear sometimes.

Edit: directed at the person calling men's shelters just "sex offenders". Also even if there are sex offenders there, they shouldn't be left to wither in the streets.

The cameras are all reviewed by a real person. You also admitted you didn't stop so....

In this city we've all been nearly hit, injured, maimed, and/or killed by drivers that refuse to follow the basic laws. You'll find little sympathy for stop light cameras here. You might get some pity points from Nextdoor though.

This almost looked intentional, like attempted murder. The car is stopped at the red, as soon as the man on the scooter is in front of him (in the crosswalk, with the green) the car guns it (running the red) and never even stops for a second.

Edit: and to the surprise of no one, temporary plates.

Um the car ran a red light, hit a scooter (with presumably the green light) and then never stopped.

To be honest, it almost looked intentional like they knew the scooter guy and wanted to kill him. Why else would you choose the exact moment someone was in front of you to run a red?

I think the X2 is has the highest fare evasion period and that's only 50%.

Also not for nothing, DC public school students get free metro rides, so a lot of "fare evaders" were riding free anyways.

Also of note, free fares for busses greatly speeds up the bus (no waiting for people fussing with dollars). Plus, I remember the Kansas City DOT director commenting that something like 75% of incidents on busses where the police are called related to fares. So you speed up the busses, avoid conflicts, drivers are safer, police can focus on more important issues

Oh and most fare boxes only cover something like 10-30% of costs anyways, so you're not sacrificing a lot for large improvements. And it helps the poorest people access the city.

Lastly, our highways are heavily subsidized and free to use, why not the bus?
