There are many plunges throughout the state. There are a few popular ones on 1/1 including AC and Coney Island. This is the Special Olympics Polar Plunge which is the most popular, they raised over $2.5M for SO, and was the largest plunge in the state with over 7,500 people!

Here is a background if you're misremembering, NJ wasnt compliant until 2020: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_ID_Act
Also checking Google News Archives, there are no articles mentioning Real ID requirements in NJ prior to 2008. https://www.google.com/search?q=new+jersey+%22real+id%22&rlz=1C1RXQR_enUS1041US1041&biw=1261&bih=839&source=lnt&tbs=cdr%3A1%2Ccd_min%3A1%2F1%2F2001%2Ccd_max%3A1%2F1%2F2009&tbm=nws
Here is the first mention of REAL ID on NJ.com from 2009: https://www.nj.com/reporter/2009/12/somerset_county_identification.html
Did you by chance have a license in antoher state and transfer it to NJ in 2006? Or did your license have a star that you had assumed meant it as compliant, when may have just been decorative?

Reply to comment by potatochipsfox in FYI: Free or nearly free smart thermostats from NJ Power companies by carne__asada
thank you for explaining that what a nice explanation, i've never lived with radiators so I didnt know that thank you! My 'nonsmart'(?) / digital thermostat also has programming, so I agree the heat being on before I get home is excellent. mine is just set to 5:30p m-f on the thermo.
I bet you could even do a shortcut on apple with an NFC tag that automatically sends a message to your thermo to start. Get in your car, tap the tag, your heat starts at home and then by the time you get home, boom heat. Or set just an alert that says "you're X minutes from home, start heat?"

To adjust the temp when you're not home?

I commute to Newark from Central Jersey or North Jersey 4 days a week since april 2021, and haven't had a delay in a very long time.
Except I don't use the tunnel at NY Penn.
The NJCL, RVL, and Morristown/Essex Lines have been great. NJCL in the summer, RVL and Morristown at least once each week for different office visits.
The last delay or cancelation I remember was the strike this summer, but I took the path to Newark and Ubered home, so not that big of deal. At most I've had a 5 minute delay or the app stopped working but the trains were still running.

I was on the "opening team" years year years ago at target when they started doing order pick up, and my guess is that by giving you 1 string bean, they either:
a) didn't want to go through the questions to ask what you wanted instead, if they were truly out of string beans, so they can tell the machine, "we gave them string beans" despite just giving you one string bean, passing the burden on you.
b) they picked one string bean, to remind themselves to go in the back and get the rest of them, but than handed the order over to the next person and forgot to follow through. (I used to do this whenever someone wanted say, a dozen boxes of cereal. I didnt want to take all those off the floor, so I would get them from the back stock room.
c) they were bored and wanted to have some fun.
d) the system is incredible bulky and hard to navigate, and their hand held said 1 string bean and they dont get paid enough to fight the computer system
e) they're an idiot or in a rush and just saw 1 string bean on the screen and hit clear

No one complains about the lack of seats in Penn, because no one shows 90 minutes beofre their train! This mindset is from airplane travel and from nerves of long distance travel. There is no need to arrive early, I promise you Amtrak will never arrive BEFORE the posted time

There's two bathrooms in Moyinhan that are nice, but only like 8 stalls. On either side of the food hall, one IN the food hall (mid 33rd street, lower level) and then one bathroom on the south side near Duane Reade (mid 32nd street).
There are bathrooms that are bigger in penn but during a rush they can get really busy. It's in the "big room" where the large timetable board used to be, SE corner of 33rd and 8th.
Than there's the tiniest bathroom ever in the NJ transit waiting area, probably not the best if you have kids because it's like 3 stalls.

I wonder this too, because last time I boarded an Amtrak it was in the new concourse under 8th Ave, it wasn't crowded (never is, I use this concourse all the time for LIRR or NJT) yet everyone boards in moynihan, surely not all these riders are "newbies"
