Actual math is $41600 in a 40 hour week over the course of a year but if you’re hunting jobs it’s always good to be able to quickly convert whatever hourly pay they offer

Quicker/easier math is take hourly, x40 x52. you get the actual yearly pre-tax without the wierd conversion.

Sounds like a way to get an inaccurate answer in two steps (multiply by two, them by 1000) vs getting an accurate answer in two steps (multiply by 40, then by 52)
