I love the vibe of this song. What are some others that are in this realm? Any band or artist is welcome.

Mr. Blue Sky - E. L. O.
Toto Coelo - I Eat Cannibals
Maneater by Hall and Oates?
When you're in love with a beautiful woman - Dr. Hook

The Wonders - That Thing You Do! (No joke, think about it!).

Owner of a lonely heart by YES
I love that song and it's not only because of Phobe Cates in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but it helps.
Bakerman by Laid Back
Our House by Madness
“She’s a Beauty” -The Tubes
“I Got You” - Split Enz
It’s great without. It’s epic with.
This song isn't talked about enough. I'd venture out to say it's under rated.
Robin Trower Bridge if Sighs
They used the song in stranger things too.
Good 80s songs!
Julian Hamilton of The Presets disclosed on a podcast that seeing Abracadabra on late night TV as a kid had a huge influence on him. I can really hear it now.
Wild Blue - John Mayer
“Shubada Du Mama” by Steve Miller Band as well?
you can do magic by America....sort of the same kind of rock band doing something more poppy than they did in their early days.
Just A Little Light as sung by the late, great Brent Mydland and the Grateful Dead.
Also, Right Down the Line by Gerry Rafferty.
Only if it's paired with All Mixed Up.
Der Kommisar by After the Fire (English version) or Falco for the German original
Rock n Roll is King- ELO
Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty
‘’Keeps me wondering why” on the same Steve Miller album is the real banger
I Wouldn't Want to be Like You - The Allen Parson's Project
I love steve Miller bands greatest hits cd. Whole things is a good vibe. And yes lots of great examples in this thread.
The Other Side of Life-Moody Blues
Excellent choice. Just listened to it!
Hello Again - The Cars
Ooh, another great Cars song. I said Hello Again.
Yes! Thank you!
I do too.
She’s a Beauty by The Tubes is close-ish
White Horse by Laid Back maybe is close-ish
The Joker by Steve Miller Band is in the neighbourhood….
Jeopardy is definitely in the ballpark
I chose also she’s a beauty
White Horse by Laid Back also
Supertramp - The Logical Song
And here I’m preferring track 4 “Give It Up”! Lol
Learning to Fly – Tom Petty &TH
That’s the beauty of that album. It’s brilliant from start to finish. Peak booger-sugar era rock
If I Was President by Vallejo
Ebony eyes Bob Welsh
Ooh, and Hypnotized
God, I love that tune. Also, very good call for similarities.
Most early 80s synth-rock/pop
What is Life - George Harrison

There is no comparable song, it’s too good
I can't listen to it without
Puttin on the Ritz by Taco
Baby Hold On - Eddie Money
Love is like oxygen by Sweet
Who Can It Be Now by Me At Work
Twilight Zone by Golden Earring and basically any major songs by Dire Straits!
G G allin - Strangle beat and crucify
This song is a classic. I still listen to it in 2020. It doesn't get old.
I remember the original airplay of this song and it was usually followed by Putting on the Ritz by Taco and Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant
The video is... something
Come Dancing by the Kinks Blue Collar by Bachman Turner Overdrive Fly at Night by Chiliwack
[deleted]
Lowdown by Boz Skaggs.
Coconut by Harry Nilsson
Similar verse but the riff is far and away cooler than abracadabra and for that reason sets it apart for me. Plus seeing fast times when it was new put a soft spot in me. Killer song
Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride
It's just "Down Under"
Please kindly have respect for our National Anthem, thank you
Hush - Deep Purple
I've got Stevie Wonder's Superstition in the same playlist.
That's a classic.
Eyes of a stranger - payolas
Mike Oldfield - Five Miles Out
Wired for Sound Cliff Richard
Mumbles something about drop bears. *shakes fist*
Tokyo Rose by Idle Eyes As far as sound and vibe goes. Very similar musically: darker mood, synth sounding, and a solid beat.
Yeah I mean, you could say, people rarely ever compose songs of that quality these days.
What a great thread! So many awesome suggestions!
It has been taken down since, but years ago there was a YouTube channel where a guy was just putting up videos of classic 12" vinyl extended-mixes. Abracadabra was on there, and Heart Of Glass by Blondie, and I Just Died In Your Arms by Cutting Crew, and I Didn't Mean To Turn You On by Robert Palmer, and like fifty or sixty more, and they all sounded really good on the vinyl, even through YouTube.
Legs - ZZ Top
And Bye Bye Love before it imo
White Horse def! Has that steady-state attitude and groove
Fuck it, play the whole album

Had to go look - thought there was some crazy mashup with 311’s All Mixed Up. And I was into it.
I don’t know all their albums, except the biggest singles. My first exposure to The Cars was the goofyness of You Might Think on MTV. It did them a big disservice.
Also love ‘Serenade’ by SMB
.
Bette Davis Eyes extended mix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVIrsFe2Ks8
Styx - Too Much Time On My Hands
I Can’t Go For That - Hall and Oates
Blue Öyster Cult - Burnin' for you.
Dreadlock Holiday by 10cc
literally the worst song I have ever heard. That musical break in Abracadabra is just a toddler pressing buttons on a synth or some shit. You're kidding, right?
All mixed up is one of those hidden jems that not a lot of people know about. It's one of my favorite songs of theirs.
This is in my top 5 most hated songs…..seriously wtf, abracadabra I want to reach out and grab ya……….. Steve Miller let me down.
Cant help but think of her tho
"Private Eyes" by Hall & Oates
This song has one of the worst lines in any song ever.
"Abra abracadabra. I want to reach out and grab ya."
LOL.
I always wondered what this song was about...
Your kiss by Hall and oats
Mystify- INXS
It’s about a women’s soccer team of course
That was my favorite song at some point
Every little thing she does is magic....The Police!
Start me Up.. The Rolling Stones
Twilight Zone by Golden Earring
