sicurri t1_j6g8pxq wrote

The door opens inward on the house and the left side of the porch where the front of the suv is connects to the concrete of the driveway. No ramp needed and likely that whole left side of the porch either has no enclosure or it opens outward.

No questions needed when the answers are all logically there.

Northern Ohio, guy had 4 cars in the driveway and the house has a 2 car garage. My thought was repo man is hunting for this one.

House door swings in… but that screen door swings out.

I don’t need to zoom in, I drive by all the time. The house is on a slab, and the porch is concrete. Guy has a driveway full of cars and today he parks it on his porch. I am guessing repo man is looking for this one

Yeah I agree. You can see a fence directly behind the vehicle though. But IMO if somebodies willing to park their car on their porch, they're probably more than willing to unscrew their fence from the supports then put it back

Some late model Kias have feeble ignition cylinders with a lack of anti-theft technology. 2nd gen Souls like this, or 3rd gen Optimas. Similar aged Rio and Sportage models, too.

There seems to be an influx of dummy kids sharing amateur how-to’s on YouTube, etc. I’ve seen a couple ignition cylinders broken with easy.

Give an impressionable, mindless youth a tutorial on how to steal a car and they suddenly think life is GTA without consequences lol

Thanks. This is a very insightful comment and I bet this what he’s doing.

This neighborhood is all low income housing basically off of a country road with a reputation for unruly kids and police calls. 2 sheriffs were just down the street at another house. Break ins are more common than most other areas. (Basically a trailer park)

What exactly are you questioning?

And did you talk to them and get their permission to take pictures of their home and post it on the internet?

1

bennypres t1_j6gjuhu wrote

Agh, I’m sorry to hear things are that tough for your (or this) community.

An SUV was stolen from someone’s driveway down the street last week.

It’s beginning to transcend communities where I live, and the safety of peoples property and lives are becoming increasingly threatened.

The person living next-door, their sister — she lives a few streets away and her son’s newer Wrangler was stolen a couple weeks back.

It’s no longer something you’d only have to worry about by being in the wrong place and the wrong time.

Pretty sad times we live in

There was an apartment across the street from me that always had a motorcycle stowed overnight way up on a high-floor balcony. This was a BIG, 800-lb cruiser bike - there was no space left for anything else on that balcony.

It was a very unexpected thing to see...and if you think about it for a minute, you realize that every night, the owner had to take the bike into and up the elevator, push it down the hallways, and wheel it into his unit and across the living room to the balcony...

TANTRUM27X t1_j6gv7wa wrote

I think I and everyone else can read that you think you own the comments and can dictate what others are allowed to respond, Yes. What I prefer, is people to conduct themself with reason and maturity. Seems I may have made a mistake here starting this conversation. My apologies. I'll see myself out.

12

bennypres t1_j6gvixm wrote

I don’t own anything here. I am simply standing my ground because somebody chose to make a snide comment, and probably thought they were being clever. Sadly, and on multiple accounts by separate people, there was a lack of consideration towards whether my question was misconstrued. Why not just ask somebody to reiterate the question?

I asked you a series of questions, but I did not ask you to leave. And I don’t really mind you being here. Since when is passive aggressiveness congruent with maturity? I see plenty of the former, but I’m curious where the latter is. You seek something you don’t posses yourself, which is ironic. And it’s your intrusive, holier-than-thou behaviour I’m not particularly fond of. Your lack of questions and ability to step back from the situation seem to suggest a lack of reason (you jumped in hung-ho without asking questions then abruptly decided to leave).

And here we are down the rabbit hole, completely astray from my initial question regarding whether you are also seeing car theft videos being posted on social apps more now than before.

Maybe his wife/kids feel unsafe walking down the drive to the car, if it’s poorly lit and they need to do so when dark?

I know it’s a short driveway and they have lights, but I literally got the shit scared out of me by someone in my front garden once. Very short driveway. He meant no harm, we lived near a low-security psych ward and sometimes someone would escape. He just liked collecting leaves and we had a lot of trees.

Another time I got the shit scared out of me in my front garden, the guy was high af and tried to attack me.

So, maybe this?

Maybe, he had 3 other vehicles in his driveway and plenty of room for the Kia. I was thinking making it hard on the Repo man or others have commented that these Kia's are extremely easy to steal.

House had a 2 car attached garage as well, so if he did feel unsafe he could have parked it in there.

When lifting with four people above the wheels, it wasn't that hard to lift a millimeter and move several feet and set. It was about timing the lift and distributing the weight. Sometimes we had five or six of us and one time as a joke we hid the car in the back yard.
