Now if we could only do the same for Man Utd. This dude has somehow made other NFL owners look good.

New owners for the Commanders can't come soon enough. Snyder is a disaster for the team and the NFL.

YorockPaperScissors t1_iurvnjr wrote

I have to assume that votes have been counted and there are at least 24 owners willing to force Snyder out. There is no way his ego would allow him to admit defeat unless he had no choice.

Good riddance. He is definitely the worst owner in major North American professional sports. And that's saying a lot, as there is no shortage of competition for that title.

Edit to add: Everyone jumping in here with other shitty owners who they think are worse than Snyder are just wrong. Like I said, there are a ton of awful owners. But only Snyder sued his own season ticket holders. And only Snyder swindled his his own season ticket holders.

Snyder has loads of qualifications for both categories. He runs his team like a barely functional kleptocratic dictatorship. You may have noticed that they haven't been terribly successful on the field since he purchased the team in 1999.

Good, this man has clearly shown he is unable to run an organization and especially one that employs women.

I am worried this is just so that he can put the team in a trust or something instead of directly owning it. But hey if he actually does sell that would be great news

20

emelbee923 t1_iusiukt wrote

I always wanted them to be the Sentinels because of The Replacements, which is loosely based on Washington's strike-shortened championship season. Get Gene Hackman and Keanu Reeves voiceovers on video packages on game day.

48

of_the_mountain t1_iusj66z wrote

Yeah I was just thinking if he puts the team under control of an LLC or something it would be harder to remove him since it’s not a direct ownership. I’m no corporate lawyer just seems like he could add some distance between himself and the team without straight up selling it

5

emelbee923 t1_iusjhx2 wrote

The other possibility I saw mentioned was minority stake with a pathway to majority ownership as a means to "go out on his own terms" so to speak. He wouldn't be subject to expulsion by owners' vote, and would be forced to sell the team due to any public pressure.

I'm still skeptical that it is anything of note, such as full sale of the team. That's much too much to hope for as a Washington fan.

ringthree t1_iuslnep wrote

As a life long Washington fan, this can not happen fast enough.

A gang of monkey's randomly picking draft picks and the roster could put together better teams over 20 years.

And there would be a substantial drop in sexual harassments incidents on the eastern seaboard.

ringthree t1_iuslzef wrote

When he took over, Washington was in the top three of most valuable sports franchises in the world.

What a horrible human. The worst timeline all started the day Snyder bought the team. I mega-loathe him.

13

mechapoitier t1_iusmpfv wrote

Anything but Commanders, which is so seemingly intentionally poorly thought out that it seems like a troll against the fans. So every player is in command? Like they all fly in from their global deployments on Sundays?

Hell just go back to Football Team while we sort it out.

I 100% agree.

Also, I hate you and Fox Sports Cowboy loving bias.

But you are also 100% agree, Washington has sucked for so long, I don't even look forward to the rival game anymore.

Can’t imagine the mental gymnastics involved with associating Hogs with Native Americans. The offensive line of Washington during their glory days in the 80’s and 90’s was “The Hogs”. That’s why you see some fans wearing hog noses. It’s a logical name choice based on the team’s past.

Sadly, just wait until the new owner(s). The persons capable of buying a sports team are going to be bad people. No owner will give proper salaries to cheerleaders (>$100K per year), treat front office workers (non execs) with any dignity, and provide fans with a great experience. They didn’t become billionaires by being nice, helpful, or good to a community.

When I moved to DC in the 1980’s everyone talked about the Redskins everywhere. People at the grocery store would talk to each other about the games. You’d see Redskins flags everywhere, and there was always chatter at work about the team. The news was always fun to read articles about the team, and it was a massive, shared cultural experience.

Snyder has squandered all of that since he bought the team. Entire generations of kids have grown up thinking the Redskins are losers and either don’t care about football at all, or root for some other team. Hardly anyone talks about the team at work, amongst friends, or in bars. Most people I know who have gone to games in the last 10 years go to support the other team.

I’ve never seen such destruction of goodwill and a tearing down of a cultural icon in such a short period of time. But here we are.

I hope they sell and leave town.

The only reason is because of the size of the fan base. The Cowboys are never “poised for a deep playoff run.” I used to love to hate them. But they have been bad for so long it’s not even sporting anymore. How I sport in g is it? It would be like waiting for a three legged dog to get up off the ice only to hit it with a stick and wait for it to try to get up again. It’s that UNSPORTING. But, good luck cowboys, I hope you and the raiders finally do something.

Also: the dez Bryant playoff game was a catch.
