That’s not the point at all. It’s the fact that even in very safe places anything can happen. Mass shootings aren’t just in the major cities like the one in Orlando or Las Vegas. Aurora CO is a good example. None of you had ever heard of that town before or since. Unfortunately our little state could have a mass shooting at any time, in any place. The fact that it’s a safe place allows people to let down their guard and this makes it a bigger target. And I’ll be damned if I’m gonna be the dude that goes down with a fight or watches their loved ones die to some psycho just because “it’s a safe place we don’t need guns”. Fuck all that. I might even be the dude that saves your soft liberal ass as well. So I hope it never happens. I hope I never have to use a firearm against another human for any reason. But if it’s me or my loved ones, or other innocent folks, or some asshole that wants to murder innocent people, I’m pulling my firearm from my waist and emptying the fuckin clip.

Well here is your sign to never do it again. Major accidents have been caused by this and it’s entirely irresponsible to not clear off your roof. No excuse. I don’t care if it’s laziness, selfishness, or your running late. From this day forward every time you don’t clear your roof it is officially negligence.

There is no real shortage of trade workers. It’s just that between the 2nd home owners, massive influx of people moving here in the last several years, and a short term rental issue because of so many ski towns, the “locals” are being forced to spend 50% of their income or more on rent, and buying is just out of sight.

Buddy of mine has 2 Tesla power walls and like 25 or 30 solar panels. He is still tied to the grid but that’s because he got the power walls for cheap thru GMP but they are allowed to pull from his power walls during peak times. That said if they were his alone I believe he could be 100% off grid with this setup. But obviously it depends on your exact setup. How much sun does your home get for your panels and how much power do you need on a daily basis.

You will still want to be tied to the grid as well, even if you fully own your power walls. You can sell the surplus power to GMP, but also during winter if your panels cannot produce enough power to charge your power walls, you can pull from the grid and still have power. And it will just consume some of the credit you have with the utility company. The only way to offset this need is to have extra panels, and extra power walls. But that means $$$.

I know someone that has 2 Tesla powerwalls installed along with solar and he loves it. It’s a really slick system. The walls are about $7500 each I believe but Green Mountain Power has a subsidy plan. Worth looking into.

Are you only looking for side work or are you looking for work work? My Dept is hiring for entry level IT, starting pay is minimum $22/hour plus benefits, with average pay in my dept is somewhere around $30/hour for experienced techs. Max pay is ~$42/hour, although you’ll never be hired on at that rate and it will prob take many years of service to hit cap.

Yeah public transportation borderline doesn’t exist in VT. To live here you MUST own a reliable car.

As for what to do, it depends on what you are into. There is plenty to do in the winter, if you are into winter things. Also this storm we just got wasn’t shit. We got like 4-6”. Barely enough to cover the dirt.

If you are into skiing/snowshoeing, better to come in February when we have some real snow. If you just want to be outdoorsy and sightsee and explore towns, summer and fall is better. If you want peak foliage, first week of October is generally the best time to come for that.

Lake Willoughby isn’t too far. Might be cold but is always beautiful. Or take her for dinner at Simon Pierce and pop it there? If you are ok with doing it in a restaurant.

Hell yeah. Gremlins IS the best Xmas movie.

Although these days for me if I’m watching a movie at home on Xmas, it’s 100% Harry Potter. Something about the wintertime scenes in those movies just gets the Xmas vibe right. I went to the hogwarts land at Universal Orlando just before Xmas 2019 and it was such a vibe.

2 people I know suffered from really bad migraines and it was due to the dramatic shifts in barometric pressure that we get. Most people are unaffected but for some it’s killer. Both had to move south where the shifts are not so bad. One moved to Savannah GA and the other to Orlando.

Something to look into.

I know a lot of people that do it and save a ton of money. But if you are already an hour south of Burlington, could you at that point consider flying out of Boston? It should be about the same distance/time of travel but would save the whole border crossing issue, and should also be much cheaper than flying out of Burlington.
