My college students were asked to find a region that we haven’t really discussed in class and look at the development of math. For some reason, one of the groups chose northern Alaska. I had never heard of this before, but I do know that at least one member of that particular group has an interest in indigenous cultures. I thought this was one of the most exciting things! Especially the impacted had on the students abilities to do math.

New Jersey also has a lower population of the “beat your child into submission to the Lord” variety of religious nutbaggery.

And I didn’t serve in New Jersey. You made an assumption. But the fact is, nationwide, substitute teachers get paid crap. $85 a day is still crap for someone that’s expected to have at the very least a bachelors degree.

Private school. It was a Catholic school and they paid dirt. I met all the qualifications.

Yeah but they’re not subject to the laws that govern public schools. This was probably in 2017. But it was 60 bucks.

I was older by Calvin and Hobbes came out. Honestly, it became so much more relevant a few years back when Donald and Hobbes became a thing. That was creepy, and hilarious.

I don’t have a problem with them on lawns, but when they clog up entire shoulders of the road with that crap it makes me angry. If you want to put it on your lawn, that’s fine, but I don’t think they should be allowed to fill the public land with this crap.

I don’t think it’s usually been Election officials, though. They’re supposed to remain neutral.

The benefit is that it falls in line with their language. One of the challenges that the children have is that they don’t have enough characters in base 10 to represent the numerals that they have in their own language. This system allows them to work with the language they already have.
