There are a number of families moving to Forest Hill from Brooklyn (I personally know of two from Park Slope), and I wouldn't be surprised to see people getting priced out of Maplewood/Montclair/South Orange and doing the same thing.

These folks are buying homes in the historic district and sending their kids to private school.

You probably wouldn't have a problem anywhere in the neighborhood shown on this map - but the "nicest" part of the area is west of Mt Prospect and north of Bloomfield Ave.

You may hear some folks speaking Spanish as a first language (this neighborhood has a lot of Dominicans and Ecuadorians, among others); I'm going to assume that doesn't bother you.

I just checked their website with my own zip code (Forest Hill) and it said "We currently service 07104, however we have no scheduled pickup dates at this time. Please check back later, call 888-445-8787, or there are other ways to give to help support Lupus Foundation of America."

How recent was the pickup you mentioned?
