In 2022 it received an extra $200 million ~ an increase of 6.5% over the previous year.
This year Biden has proposed an increase of $260 million over 2022 levels.
The NPS budget has increased by 26% over the last decade - accounting for inflation, it is still averaging a 5% increase.

The additional funding has been a priority for the life of his administration. They are probably using the premiere of the final season as an opportunity to maximize attention on the issue.
Also, this sub is called Uplifting News - you lost?

From the original story:
>Biden has previously called on lawmakers in both parties to expand resources to fight the “mental health crisis” in the nation as part of his “ unity agenda.” His administration has surged funding to bolster the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and expand school-based mental health professionals.

It is entirely possible that Biden will use this as an opportunity to announce additional resources being allocated for mental health services...

It must get unbearably warm up there, in recent years airlines have been increasing cabin temperatures to uncomfortable levels.

Carter didn’t hire the best people but that claim about Afghanistan may hold water.

One of the more unhinged GOP responses to this incident was the claim that the Soviet Union felt emboldened to invade Afghanistan after seeing Carter struggle to fend off a berserk rabbit.

NY state has counties named Kings, Queens, Dutchess (old time spelling) but Dukes ended up somewhere in the middle of the ocean?

Perhaps they can declare George Santos mentally incapacitated by pathological dishonesty.

Part of what made that era particularly scary. It was all about building more, bigger warheads while delivery systems were still far from the reliability and accuracy that one would expect.

And the USSR removed it’s missiles from Cuba while the US continued to keep nuclear missiles elsewhere in Europe and the western Pacific. Both sides also had missiles on submarines nearly everywhere. I’m not sure that anyone ‘won’ except the military-industrial complex.

Was one of the last big movies that captured authentic, gritty NYC - complete with horrible traffic, abundant litter, and surprising kind, helpful, and weird residents. A ton of real locations used and you can tell.
This was before studios tried to either pass off Toronto or Atlanta as NYC - or just CGI in a bunch of landmarks.

Don't forget Tom Carvel and the invention of soft serve ice cream.
Cincinnati-style chili - also from Greeks (although some would argue that isn't something to be proud of...)
