Look at that rant you wrote above. Look at how poorly this has been going for you for like 20 years.

Do you want to keep doing the same thing, and continue getting fucked?

No?

Then do something different, and get a lawyer.

The DMV is trying like hell to teach you that you are not actually solving this problem with your approach. Sounds like they're trying to teach you for the 3rd or 4th time now. Are you going to learn that lesson this time?

It's a power-leasing deal. Some company pays you (either in dollars, or by selling you electricity at a lower cost than your regular utility) to put solar panels on your roof. The company banks revenue by creating power and banking state renewable energy credits. You get a slightly lower electrical bill.

You'd come out ahead if you purchased a solar panel array and paid a loan on it (this is what I did a few years ago, AMA). But if you're not in a position to do that, this would probably be at least a small savings on your energy bill.

So even though you could come out ahead with an arrangement like this, it's not really considered a "good" investment, since you're basically taking a thank-you cut from somebody else who's actually making profit. The underlying truth is that the area of your roof is very valuable in terms of using it to generate power. Either YOU can realize that value, or you can get a minimal payment to let someone ELSE realize that value.

Motorcyclist here.

Pushing a bike blows. Don't make that your Plan A.

In MA you can get a motorcycle permit from the RMV without having to take a road test, just a 30 question exam. (Delightfully, a shockingly huge proportion of bikers just keep renewing their permits instead of getting a proper motorcycle license endorsement, specifically to avoid having to take a road test and prove to everyone that all they know how to do is go fast in a straight line.) I think you can get the permit online, it's like 30 bucks. Do that and get legal before you get a bike. Alternatively, rent a bike trailer from U-Haul (assuming you have a vehicle that can pull it.)

And take the MSF course. It won't get you ready for the street, but it will teach you the fundamentals of how to handle a bike at parking lot speeds. I realize that sounds flippant, but it isn't. In this country you can, theoretically, pass the motorcycle license exam with no training whatsoever, which is friggin' terrifying.

Anyway, congratulations and have fun! I started about 18 months ago as a fat old guy and I'm kicking myself for not starting sooner. Being on 2 wheels is a blast. I hope you join the club soon; I'll give you the wave if I see you out there!

Generally there are minimum requirements for the number of places that need to be inspected after the work is performed, but it's not 100%. Usually it's more like 50% of places where work has been done will be inspected to ensure the work conforms to applicable laws and regulations.

My first thought was that it could've been in one of those towns that were flooded to make the Quabbin reservoir. But there probably aren't any ghost stories about any of those places.

(Not saying there might not be ghosts, just that we wouldn't have any stories about them, because they're all underwater.)

(Man, those ghosts must be bored as hell.)
