Yeah totally. I stopped right around the time where the 1-2k iems became the craze. Found that for 800$-1k was the cut- off. Bought a couple of 1-2k and thought they were ok.

"Technicalities" can be "perceived" in the 2k gear, but felt that midfi gear (or sub 1k) reached a fine balance between that and sweetly tuned goodies. Heck a Sundara and the 660s is enough to keep me smiling.

Yeah, I like the positive mindset begets positive outcomes, but I wouldn't rule out "friends" and "family" being obstacles as well. If there's ego and insecurity or let alone envy/ pride gate-keeping, these things are bound to happen to an extent. It's sucks that this is one narrative, but still grounded in the reality of certain folk. Fucking Cinderella's stepmom and step sisters.

Satisfied for ~4 years now, approaching 5.

Bought a couple 2k iems, and it wasn't that much of a serious upgrade over .4k-1k items. Yeah, the expensive stuff are good but they aren't 3x-4x that mind boggling. (And no, the blessing 2 doesn't touch the big boys -- just to get it out there)

I might audition some totl big cans instead. I just find it amusing being in the sidelines seeing people cheerlead and have cult followers bite hard 😆 (while I enjoy my music).

I'm into anime/manga... but like I'm able separate both hobbies. Not too crazy on that "lifestyle" marketing... same way people didn't dig the BEATS thing... not my cup of tea. I find it at times quite cringey.

Miles Davis Trumpets by Monster -- vented and airy, with the bass that can eq'd down. It was my gateway to the hobby. One of the rare occassions where I felt the EQ mod was worth it because it responded well.
