I don’t think anyone (with brain cells) refutes that, but it’s not often people who have brain cells that are the problem.

The “Buzzwords” are happening for a reason. When the face of your tech is 99% scams because there’s no profit in it besides scams, you’re going to have a bad look. Pretending that it’s not the case lumps you in with them. Way I see it, propose an actual use that isn’t just a scam, proof of concept, then figure out how companies can exploit it for cash. Then you get widespread adoption.

As a developer who tinkered with the move to AI, after looking over what I’d have to learn as a prerequisite I said fuck it. It’s way more than it ever seems from the outside, even if you have skills to transfer.

That’s unfortunately very wrong. Greed makes every system worse. This is fresh and needs PR so the people will see it, but the moment a walled garden can be made easily for profit, it will be.

Until you remember we can’t have anything good under human greed. Whatever corporations that crack solid AI use will monetize it so hard it won’t be even nearly 1/100th or what it could be. We have enough resources in the world to solve almost all problems globally. We won’t obviously, but we could. Meta could have bought VR chat, slapped some money in their pockets and just profit but they wanted to drag any semblance of something that could be cool if they actually knew anything about humans through the mud because Zuck wanted full control over the narrative. The “meta verse” is already here and no one wants to be bombarded with ads or work in VR.

It just freaks me out how casual people are about it. I always heard it was a last ditch effort for incredibly obese people. It was frequently not that.

I’m not a medical provider, but I did speak with MANY who did “recommend” it for their 200lbs patients. Generally to be considered insurance wise it was BMI 35 with comorbidity or BMI 40+. So 9/10 I was just having to deny peoples claims for this. I handled far too many of them, also a decent amount of them OOC ie out of country/medical tourism. I didn’t know people were so casual with surgeries until working there.

The number of women who outright pay for the entirety of gastric bypass surgery because their insurance covered it was way higher than you’d expect. Working in insurance id get 20 calls a week about getting Gastric surgeries covered, and half of them when they hear it’s not covered just tell their doctor they’ll pay out of pocket. It was NUTS to me to hear people pay this much to lose a couple pounds while I’m struggling to eat more than once a day.

Interesting point. Now I wonder that too. It’s so simple so there’s got to be a reason, maybe it’s just not effective? Any cancer researchers wanna chime in to sate this curiosity?

Bingo there. Only way out is to make an absurd amount of money, unfortunately if you have to work 40-50 hours to make ends meet it’s hard to give up rest to work on skills. It’s all a trap and the tipping point is coming.

How much money do you think living in a modern place is? Find me one that you can afford rent in for $7.50 and I’ll acknowledge it. My grandpa got his house for a month of work. I’m not even allowed to get a house because I don’t make enough even though the mortgage is way lower than my rent.

A 3 story house was worth what my car is now. Kids could afford a car on a part time job. Support a family of 4 comfortably on min wage. Everyone could have had money then.
