Chevy bolt it’s actually really simplified if you get a base model not tech heavy knobs and buttons and it’s maintenance free pretty much and super affordable. The range is not amazing between 220 -300 depending on how you drive weather etc but if that’s good enough for them and they own a driveway it’s a great car and likely to last a long time as Evs have a really low breakdown rate in general cause of less moving parts and they have the 8yr/100k mile warranty on major components but wouldn’t be surprised if it far outlasts that

Maybe its time for Con Ed to stop obstructing and disincentivizing Solar/ Wind projects

Does not help that their executives have gone to training camps to learn how to fight back against clean energy projects also

When they're on the job and there's a chance you got a cell phone in your pocket recording a civilian interaction that's absolutely whats going to be said or implied in some way. Rules for thee not for me or however it goes lol its the worst when you have family friends that entirely approve of or joke about stuff like this in the profession. Though as a fellow islander I'm sure you have probably seen this already

Ohhh yeah plenty of them have fully brought into the yellow journalism that is the NYpost and some of them have been swimming in that cesspool for a verryyy long time lol Its a perfect echo chamber when you have people in closed of social groups with nice cushy sometimes union jobs (This part kills me the most, as a long time activist/member) that also watch Fox News.

A rebuild is an possible solution but not really needed primarily because of cost like you said but also its prone to other challenges throughout the project especially on big structures like schools. Ground up rebuilds are so much tougher than you would think if you havent done it yet speaking from some painful experiences at smaller scale projects lol Its not that hard to change internal things if the framework is still good.
