Well, I just gave you an upvote! People would be fine with your predictions if it was 2125-2132. Epochal events happening within their lifetimes and so close too? It's bound to get a negative reaction. I do respect the fact you've stuck with your guns and held your own feet to the fire.

>What year will prices for everything drop precipitously as a "post-scarcity" economy takes hold in the USA? Alternatively, when will UBI be available in the USA?

Tony Seba and his think tank RethinkX believe this will happen by the end of the decade at the earliest and the middle of the next decade at the latest. It seems fantastical and far too close, but they understand exponential growth and they have a history of being right. And all of this doesn't take AGI or transformative AI into consideration. Things are about to get crazy.

It took me a long time to believe that AGI was even possible. Once I came around a couple of years ago, 2045 sounded far enough away to be plausible. This past year has really shaken that, I'm in the AGI by 2030 camp now, and if advancements accelerate in 2023 who knows? What a time to be alive.

I honestly don't know anymore, things are going faster than expected, which is why I've stopped making predictions. But I am interested if your predictions have changed within the last year. What was the timeline you envisioned in the beginning of 2022?

Timelines are getting shorter and shorter, at least it feels that way. I've recently come around to AGI in 2029, but this year it feels like AGI might happen sooner. 2025 was the year things would get weird, but that could be next year! I'm on this sub and r/Futurology all the time and I'm having a hard time keeping up! I fear the rest of the decade is going to be destabilizing. The 20s are going to be a trip, the decade started with a once-in-a-century global pandemic! How will it end?

You're right. Once these advancements get on the radar of the public as a whole.... things will get crazy. Future Shock anyone? We're really not built to understand exponential growth, even people on this sub. I remember you saying text-video would follow quickly after Dalle-2 dropped and people here were saying 5-10 years! The next couple of years are going to be WILD.

The amount of creativity that this is going to unleash will be insane. Imagine n Ao3, but instead of fanfiction stories it's chock-full of films and tv shows with high production quality all AI-generated, but the story and script are human created.
