i used to go to Bonk's all the time and know the owners and bartenders there well. in fact the only two places i'd go to during the pandemic were Happy Tap and Bonk's.

i always rode my bike there, and if there weren't a lot of people inside they'd let me bring my bike into the bar instead of locking it to the bench outside. solid bar with a good mix of good people, in my opinion.

i quit driving, indefinitely. i hadn't planned on getting my license for a very long time, and didn't care about keeping up with it.

i discovered that the only way for me to do this through MJ MVC is to get a printout of the abstract request form and snail mail it -> Trenton, then Trenton -> the abstract via certified mail. from there i'd take the abstract to the Minnesota DMV.

sucks it isn't very efficient; bringing them the abstract is just to get the appointment for my road test. that's a few ubers there ans back.

i'm not even sure how the hell i can take the road test without a car or knowing anyone in the state. 🤷‍♂️

i grew up in Blackwood, my cousins grew up in Upper Darby. my family rented a house down in Sea Isle some years back and one night my cousins and i went hopping between La Costa and the OD.

we ran into group after group of people they knew from Delco. introduced me to probably 50 different people.

i ran into no one.

i waited on Al Morganti and Ken Hitchcock at the Applebee's in Voorhees around 2005. they were so cool, and so funny. just chirping at each other the whole time. lol

i waited on a lot of Philly sports figures at that Applebee's. worst one was Simon Gagne, bar-none. McNabb was the 2nd worst.

the absolute best Philly sports figure i served was Keith Jones, hands down. dude was so nice and down to earth, hilarious, and he tipped me 100%. Al and Hitch were a close 2nd.

i was drinking at a bar alone a couple years back and Nigel Bradham sat down next to me, so i did a shot of tequila with him and chatted. i was trying not to be overbearing with football talk, but he obliged me with a story from the Superbowl.

he said the practices are such that teams can watch practices but only from certain team/club boxes where recording devices aren't allowed, while the team practicing can record from designated boxes. Dougie P saw them recording and from a box they shouldn't have been in, but instead of notifying league officials they ran practice as scheduled, and then changed their gameplan up at the next closed door practice.

they will on January 27th when i go back to Xcel Center for the Flyers game. but i went to the game against the Penguins on the 17th and wore the orange and black, and was pretty much an honorary Wild fan. i was just fulfilling my duty as a Flyers fan to talk that shit on the Penguins, but it was nice to meet some people from Minnesota while i did it.

bars. bars are where the lingerers have been lingering.
