Looking for a romantic hotel room for anniversary

My one-year anniversary is coming up, and I am looking for a romantic place to take my wife. Ideally, I would like to find a hotel that has an in-room jacuzzi and fireplace. I have found it hard to find something like this on the traditional travel sites, and even Google seems to have a hard time, because if there is a common hot tub/pool at the hotel, then it shows up in the results.

Our tastes are not super modern, so an ultra-modern design is not our thing. We want more of a homey/rustic feel, but at the same time not trashy or run down. The few places I have found seem to gravitate toward either end of this - either ultra sleek or dumpy.

I am not limiting this to Boston itself. We were married in western MA and live in southern NH. Our anniversary is at the end of January. Anywhere that has a room like this, as well as things to do in the area would be great. White mountains, western MA, the city itself, etc. are all fair game. We are not party people, so I don't care about clubs, bars, etc. We also don't ski, so that's not something important to us, but sledding would be fun. As long as there are good places to eat and get a drink we are good.

I am also leaning towards a hotel rather than a VRBO or AirBNB. I don't need to rent a whole house for a weekend getaway for two of us, and while the budget is flexible, I don't want to spend $500+ a night for JUST the hotel.

Any recommendations for places people have stayed would be great!

Edit: Ok, now that everyone has mentioned it, maybe the jacuzzi isn't the best option. How about a fireplace and a nice big shower then? I'll look at the options people have posted here and see if those are available in places already mentioned.

Your post appears to be one of a number of commonly asked questions about the port city of Boston. Anyway, Royale is fine if you're just trying to get drunk and dance and hookup. The Grand is more of the same as Royale but more expensive and a stricter dress code. Bijou is fine if you're into house music, the last few times I've been to Bijou the crowd was mostly freshly 21 people. Legacy is under Royale and a pretty great queer club if that's you're thing. Good Life, Phoenix Landing, Middlesex, and The Lower Level are all great for underground shows if that's your thing. The vibes at those 4 places are all pretty good. Good Life is my favorite and they open back up this weekend. If you're just looking to get trashed and don't care what you dance to or who you dance around, any of the bars around Haymarket/Faneuil Hall will do. Ned Devine's, Hennessey's, Hong Kong ($1 chicken sticks!), Sissy K's, Coogan's. I think there's a few more I'm missing but those are the big ones. Also, I can't believe I forgot this, but if you're into top 40 or hip hop, Venu, Cure, Icon, and Hava are places to go if you're looking for something a little nicer/fancier/more upscale than what the Faneuil Hall/Haymarket bars and clubs offer. I also forgot about Memoire because it's in the casino but frankly I don't really know anyone who goes to Memoire regularly. It's more of the same stuff they play at the Grand and Royale. XV Beacon has in room fireplaces but honestly your budget is too low to get all these boxes checked at a hotel. New England is just expensive.

I would say your best bet might a less traditional hotel and more like a bed and breakfast. They tend to have different layouts etc.

I got married at the York Harbor Inn, (York Maine). All of the rooms are very different and some would match what you are looking for. I can recommend the area and hotel itself.

What do you need a jacuzzi and fireplace for? A lotta hotels have a fireplace in the lobby and a jacuzzi next to the pool. Why can't you just use those?

I'm not aware of any (good) hotels in Boston that have a jacuzzi in room, let alone a fireplace, as well. Space is kind of at a premium. I know some hotels have a pretty big tub with fireplaces in the lobby. Intercontinental comes to mind (some of the rooms there have great views of Fort Point Channel, as well).

I know you said you don't ski, but you'd easily be able to find both in any town that caters to skiers. Nordic Village in Jackson, NH, has a bunch of rooms like that (plus heated indoor and outdoor pool). Check out North Conway, too, and Vermont ski towns like Stowe, Killington and Woodstock.

Not sure about the tubs but the Lennox in Back Bay has working wood burning fireplaces in the rooms. The lobby and whole area have a great cozy holiday vibe and it's close to everything in Boston.

New London inn in New London, NH. Stayed in a room with a fireplace and a jacuzzi last year. Lots of great restaurants nearby too. The whole place is an art gallery as well. Bar in the building. Highly recommend.

there’s that place in Hyannis… “Cuddles and Bubbles”? I don’t know if they have the fireplace but they advertise heart shaped jacuzzis on their sign. I also don’t know if it’s still a thing there.

Is Newburyport too close since you’re southern NH? If not, I’d suggest the Essex Street Inn. I stayed there last year while in town for a party and splurged on the suite with the hot tub. It was 2 levels, plenty of space and reminded me more of an apartment than a hotel. Close to all the shops and restaurants.

Spruce Peak in Stowe is pretty nice. Big rooms with a fireplace and jacuzzi style tub. Not sure how things look now but ski season hasn't quite started. Might get a good deal.

Holliday inn in South Bay has in room jacuzzi. There’s places for dinner, shopping and movies. Idk how romantic you want to be but regardless the in room jacuzzi is very nice

$500/night is pretty steep for us. If that means I take off the extras, then that's what it will have to be. I know it's an anniversary, but my wife would kill me if I spent $1000 for a room for 2 nights. I have some backup ideas if this won't work out, but based on the ideas others have given, they seem to be in the range of $200-300 a night, which is not that bad.

Yeah, I didn't mean to eliminate ski area ones entirely, just that skiing wasn't our thing, but heading up to that area certainly is, and then we can sled or visit the shops in the area.

I think the fireside inn in Lebanon, NH or Laconia, NH have these types of rooms. I mean it's not super swank, but we stay in them frequently and they are nice enough, good breakfast. Honestly, you don't want to really see much outside of the room anyway....

Harbor Light Inn is a B&B in Marblehead that has some rooms with both fireplaces and spa tubs. The Merchant in Salem has in-room gas fireplaces. Only one of the rooms has a soaker tub though, not a jacuzzi. Both of those have food and drink options you can walk to from the hotel even during the quieter season.

Mirabeau in Plymouth is a little corny, but has what you're looking for.

But, Cliff House in Oguncuit Maine is the best hotel within 2 hours in my opinion.

Look into Lenox and Stockbridge areas.

I would not immerse myself in the hotel's jacuzzi anyway :)

I found the Yankee Inn in Lenox, which looks nice, but I have no idea what's out that way to do during the day. I also don't know if it's really nice, or the photos just make it look nice...

Portland Regency (Portland ME) has some suites with in room jacuzzi. Technically in the bathroom but large and has a TV nearby as well ;)

Also Best Western Merry Manor Inn - also in Portland has 2 theme type jacuzzi suites. They are both very nice and romantic.

it’s in vermont so a little out of the way but my bf and i spent a weekend at the rabbit hill inn and it was absolutely amazing!! super cozy and rustic with a fireplace in the room as well as a hot tub in the bathroom!

We absolutely love The Wentworth in Jackson NH. Many of the rooms have private jacuzzis. The restaurant there is solid and they have a nice piano bar! It’s a very cozy and traditional hotel, and the service reflects that. There’s also skiing nearby at attitash if that’s your thing! If you’re foodies I would highly recommend Thompson House Eatery which is about an 8 minute walk from The Wentworth (you can also drive but we wanted to enjoy the wine pairings to the fullest so we left the car at the hotel!). Very elevated cuisine, and they grow a lot of veg on site!

I couldn’t agree more. We have rented the every type of room at The Wentworth over the last 15 years. They have private rooms with fireplaces, outdoor hot tubs, and always wonderful service. Jackson is a charming little town.

XV Beacon has fireplaces in the room. And Mooo is a great steakhouse. It’s pricey but worth it. Or Boston Harbor Hotel. Get a room with water view. Or if you can, The Admiral suite has a a semi private balcony overlooking the harbor.

Red lion inn - Stockbridge. They have rooms with fireplaces.

No fire places, but other places to consider Porches inn - North Adams. Has a heated pool, quick walk over to Mass MoCA. Can do some hiking. Can drive down to Smith College museum of art. Bunch of different options

Tourists - North Adams. No pool here or fireplaces in the rooms. But very nice looking property. Easy access to hiking trails and all the other stuff mentioned above.

Woodstock inn - Woodstock Vermont. No fireplaces in the rooms. But can relax and unwind in the quaint town of Woodstock. Visit shops, dine at the restaurants, hike quechee gorge.

This 5 star insanely nice hotel in the hamptons is doing a special where if you stay for 5 nights, Sunday-Friday then the room is only $100 a night. So $500 for five nights. An absolutely insane deal, it’s like a $1500 a night in the summer

If you want something close go to the Lark Hotels website. They have spots all over New England, literally name a quintessential town it’s there. The prices are reasonable compared to the competition and every hotel is GORGEOUS. You can search all of their locations at one if you pick a date to compare prices etc

Yes, and Conway is cute too. We love that whole area. We’ve camped at Canal Bridge campground just across the border in Maine too, which was a hidden gem of a campground.

This should be your place. Stowe is such an amazing town even if you don’t ski. If you go up, on the way home stop at the Prohibition Pig in Waterbury right by the highway. Some of the best BBQ you will ever have.

I suggest Montréal, in the heart of downtown. Should be a 4 hour drive from southern NH & Montréal (all of Québec actually) feels very different from Boston. The accents, the French signs, the stores, etc, it will feel like a real vacation, due to all the differences. Plus Montréal is cheap, compared to Boston, because of the current exchange rates.

I've stayed at Bons Matins, about 2 blocks from Saint-Catherine St (similar to Boylston or Newbury), ½ block from a metro stop, on the line that takes you to the historical district & they serve a fantastic breakfast.

We may do that in the future! I have been to Montreal a couple of times, but we want to stay relatively close to home because of our kids and stuff going on the following weeks. I will keep that place in mind when I go!

It really is the best. It's right on main street so you can walk around at night and enjoy the town. There are some great restaurants and bars all around.

Cork as someone mentioned in another post is right down the street and has a great romantic dinner with great wine. There is the Stowe Public House which is a great little bar and bottle shop that we like to stop at for an afternoon drink. Harrison's is right across the street and is a really nice restaurant and bar. And the Green Mountain Inn itself has The Whip on site which is a good restaurant.

Then for a little more lively but also great atmosphere you have the Underbar down by the church, the Bench & Doc Ponds which both have great food and a fantastic beer list (both have Hill Farmstead on tap).

If you want to drive up the mountain road you have Matterhorn which is a great skier bar right at the food of the mountain that has some great sushi and Piecasso for good pizza.

If you guys are into beer highly suggest taking the 45 minute drive up to Hill Farmstead which is widely considered one of the best breweries in the world. I have some of their bottles in my basement that I've been saving for years.
