Trump is pretty openly threatening an attack if he is indicted and arrested. The courthouse and the DA's staff have to be protected against the Trump terrorist attack.

Terrorism: the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.

Trump called on his followers to protest and “take our nation back” in the event he is arrested. I don’t know about you guys, but that kind of sounds like threats of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims to me.

They say they're going to investigate specific or credible threats as if that will protect anyone from an unannounced attack by one of the many right wing militias that love trump. The far right media is all on the same page that guns and fighting accomplish more than votes do. The number of individual hate crimes has exploded since 2016 too.

Also had a Republican congressman tell people that they needed to go scorched earth on this.

She's on the Homeland security committee, telling Americans to commit violence to prevent a republican from being arrested for crimes.

The Trump terrorism camp is going to need new names to differentiate the numerous threats and riots they spin off, and that is kind of terrifying in itself.

HELLO? How many times does the public need to read/hear from Donald Trump that he is ONCE AGAIN inciting violence to defer attention to him and away from courts?

The idea of a big pro trump protest in manhattan is kind of amusing. There might be protests other places but that could turn ugly quickly.

The Republican elite are all in favor of Trump being convicted of bribery rather than his other crimes.

Al Capone going to jail for tax evasion comes to mind.

  • Trump sexually assaulted dozens of young women and girls. And not only admitted it publicly but bragged about it. He was not arrested.
  • Trump used his wealth to campaign for the arrest and execution of five innocent men on no other basis than they were black and he still got away with it.
  • Trump collaborated with Russian government elements to have the election swayed in his favor and was not only not arrested, but was fucking elected president. Then when this was officially investigated later the evidence was ignored by half of Congress on the grounds of the law doesn't matter if they win an election.
  • Trump ordered a missile strike on an ostensibly allied country, extremely close to that country's international public airport, to assassinate a political figure from another nation. And didn't tell his allies he was having missiles launched in their country. And got away with it.
  • Trump refused to go to a ceremony honoring US war dead so he could meet in private with Putin. Without security or staff. And got away with it.
  • Trump publicly supported the Russian invasion of Ukraine. BOTH TIMES.
  • Trump met with Russian intelligence in the fucking oval office and exposed sensitive information about US allies; and nothing happened to him.
  • Trump riled up a mob and directed them to storm the capitol building to force an overturn of the election results; to wit, a coup. And got away with it.

Amazing what you can do when you have money and convince poor rural people you are one of them in spite of being neither poor nor rural.

On his godawful social media platform that be built because even Twitter thought he was too scummy:

>Page 2: NOW ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE, WHICH HAS ALLOWED NEW RECORDS TO BE SET IN VIOLENT CRIME & WHOSE LEADER IS FUNDED BY GEORGE SOROS, INDICATE THAT, WITH NO CRIME BEING ABLE TO BE PROVEN, & BASED ON AN OLD & FULLY DEBUNKED (BY NUMEROUS OTHER PROSECUTORS!) FAIRYTALE, THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!

One could argue "take our nation back" was just reinforcing the call to protest, but given the events of Jan 6th, I think it safe to suggest instead that it was another call to a coup.

In the (in my opinion unlikely) event of Trump being indited, we're likely to see a wave of small to medium sized terrorist attacks by MAGA fanatics against police and infrastructure across the country. It's going to be worse than anything in our history short of the Civil War.

I do. He's the idiot that Googled "how to get through bulletproof glass" in the middle of the attack and then died in a cornfield, right?

The threat absolutely is real, and it should not (and will not) be taken lightly. But these dipshits are not the "Coming storm". They are not nearly as powerful or numerous as they think. They can cause damage and kill people, but they're not going to Take Over the Country.

We should not be intimidated by them.

Exactly. They've really just been trying to figure out how and what they can charge him with that won't blowback on the established political leadership of the party. They have their hands in too much of what Trump did for him to ever face prosecution for any of it, but prosecution for this has no way of bouncing back on anybody important with the party and take's the need to deal with him off their plate as it ends his political career. At least that's what they're likely hoping for.

Republicans one the popular vote once in the last 20 years. It was George Bush right after 9/11, which Bush exploited to drag the country to war and murder hundreds of thousands of completely unrelated civilians.

Lots of money to be made in imperialism after all.

Trump is trying to mind-fuck his cult into protesting on his behalf. This is his narcissism on display.

He's connecting his arrest for campaign finance misdeeds to "an assault on the country...take it back". Like, anything that happens to him is a crime against the country.

No sir, it's not an assault on the country. Just you.

Not just that but Trump is a grade A narcissist. I've dealt with narcs 2 times in my life. It would be a severe mistake to underestimate the instinctive skill with which a narcissist can twist your words and throw them right back at you.

I've experienced this myself. Me and a close friend dealing with a narc coach in our sports club. We went into his office, and we were going to set him straight. Half an hour later, we stand outside, having just agreed that everything was out fault, and we're looking at each other shellshocked with a 'WTF just happened' look on our face.

Trump will walk away from this too.

Nah, most of the politicians in the higher levels of government for the right are about as religious as my socks. But their voters are a lot more god-bothering, so it behooves the politicians to put that face on to appeal to their base.

With a few exceptions that really are crazed zealots.

Because admitting that using more ecological and healthy but less cheap materials in your industry practices, and admitting that health and safety and environmental regulations WORK, is anathema to a large portion of the politicians in this country.
