That’s fair. I prefer Blue Bottle, but sometimes don’t have time to walk the extra bit.
I love Yellow. I don’t think I’ve had something from there that didn’t absolutely slap. Baklava croissant? C’mon! My bill always seems to be $2 or $3 dollars more than elsewhere, but it is def fantastic.

I’m more disappointed in their food than their computer policy. Their croissants are garbage and espresso drinks were unremarkable. The cookies look good, but I haven’t tried them yet.
I fully bought the hype and was excited for them to open. At least we still have Christophe for pastries and Compass for coffee.

We used Kara Johnson to help us figure out our open concept living area. She was really helpful, and willing to cater her services to level of need. She's a realtor by trade, and so has developed a really good eye for space and room design.

I disagree! If the bar is “you’re surely going to get shot”, OP will likely be blown away by their visit. They’ll have fun, eat some good food they may not have experienced before, and return home unscathed. They are actually the ideal tourist.

"Dan's Cafe" as a running gag on this website is tired and boring. In this thread though, it may actually be the best answer.

Off season/shoulder season travel is my advice regardless of where you’re going. We went to Zion in early May pre-covid, and though there were people, it was nothing like going during the high season. No lines for trails, easy to get lost, plenty of room on the buses.

We left right before the remodel began. We’ve been back once since, for a birthday party, and I’m not sure how I feel about the new vibe. I also understand I’m no longer the target demographic though. 🤷♂️

I’m not sure that’s true. Just because something is old, doesn’t mean it has character or is worth hanging onto. In 25 years, the paper mache apt buildings of this decade will likely be worse for wear and no more desirable than they are today.

Agreed. We were in Camden Roosevelt for about a decade, which is a nice old building with in unit laundry, but didn’t have a modern vibe, a dog park, or a rooftop. The rent control was key to our survival for a long time!

100%. Our old apt was so quiet and we barely ever had maintenance issues. Our current condo is in an old ass building, with the same benefits. So much of the new build stuff felt like paper mache.

I haven’t looked at apartments in quite a while, but I remember those nice, big, older rentals on the market in NW. Way more character in those buildings too.
We were never “fancy” new building people, but once you taste in unit laundry, there’s no going back.

Fair. Then let’s establish a different arbitrary border, and stick to it. Way out by Shenandoah, or east to Annapolis?
That’s not reasonable.

New location is absolutely the sticking point for most, and why it doesn’t get talked about as much as it did in Shaw. Great for me, since I’m only a few blocks away, but I need them to get busy so they stay open!

It has hit me super hard this winter. I’ll go through weeks where I’m my typical chipper self, and then wake up one day an absolute miserable ass. Actually didn’t even occur to me that it was likely SAD, until like last week.
