That's taken into consideration when they do the lighting design. They avoid affecting any apartments when choosing where to put the up lights. And they typically shut off at a certain time. Believe me, no landlord is going to sacrifice lost rent because of up lighting

Opportunities for whom? The gentrifiers moving in or the original residents being priced out? The locally owned businesses that can't afford the new high rents or the national retailers who pay too low for their workforce to live in the now gentrified city they work in?

I think balance is key and I'm happy that we don't have runaway gentrification like so many people on here dream about. Growth and change is healthy and, like someone pointed out, there is room for more people but it shouldn't be at the detriment to others. And that's what the "Ghetto Lobby" is fighting for - balance.

And I don't understand why people still point to this "Ghetto Lobby" when clearly lots of development proposals get approved. It's like when Trump kept brining up Hilary Clinton years after anything she did had any relevance.

Christopher Columbus, who we should remember enslaved many native Americans and while governor of Hispaniola would have the bodies of the native Tiano he killed paraded through the streets, has many streets, cities, towns, universities and even our nation's capital named after him. I think he's gotten enough recognition.

There's no shortage of famous and important people from Italy. No need to hold on to the legacy of one man with so much blood on his hands.

This Nightlife Guide is understandably Ironbound heavy, but did mention Swahili Village which is a popular place and one of my preferred spots. It's usually crowded, at least on the bar side, from Thursday on. Bar Vanquish on Market Street also gets a good crowd on weekends. Lit 21 can get crowded depending on the party. The last couple times I've been they did a poor job with space allocation though. They opened up every area but only have enough people to fill one, so the place seems empty although there are a decent number of people there.

I stumbled into a party going on at bunkr on Halsey Street last night which was cool.

And, though not NightLife, Blueprint cafe has a DJ on Saturday. That place is a cool hangout and great food, especially for brunch (closed on Sundays I believe.)
