Ok, genuinely curious here. If a homeowner has two offers. One for $150,000 and one for $200,000.
The lower offer sends one of these letters revealing that they are white, have kids, and go to a local evangelical church.
The higher offer does not send anything additional. Just the monetary offer.
If the homeowner accepts the lesser offer because they know that the lower offer is from a white person would that not be illegal?
And if it is not, then what has to happen in order for it to be illegal?
Does the homeowner also need to know that the higher offer is from a person of color and decide to not sell to them based on that?
Or is it that the realty agent is the one that would be held at fault for the homeowner being racist?
IDK, I am super confused based on your reply.

It is a violation if the homeowner decides to accept her offer over another person's based on any of the protected classes.
My sister specifically might not be in violation, but it is morally wrong.
Just because it isn't specifically illegal doesn't mean that it isn't still wrong.

That is what disgusts me about these "love letters" to home owners trying to manipulate them into taking less money than their home is worth. Or, much more likey, prey on their bigotry to violate federal laws.
My sister did it in a notoriously racist area. Of course she includes a picture of her new baby with her and her husband.
Letting the homeowner see they are white and have a child. Either of which is easily a violation of the fair housing act. Not to mention sexuality.
I'm sure she also mentioned how she is a church member in good standing in the community and other bullshit. Third violation.
It's such a despicable practice that allows the easy propagation of bigotry and prejudice against protected classes.

Nothing. There was no event or inviting incident.
I am pretty sure they held special sessions just to push this through the school board.
What a complete waste of time.
Plus they are hurting so badly for teachers that you can get away with just about anything right now.
Also, they are embroiled in a lawsuit from the ACLU about trans bathroom policies and are about to be under another lawsuit for backroom deals to stack the school board with evangelicals so they can "clean up the county".
They definitely have way more to worry about than this bullshit.
But these fucking people that live here can't even be bothered to let us vote to see if the county wants an elected school board.

It includes allies. So yeah. It does include everyone except those that don't think LGBTQ+ people should be treated equally.

Yes. I have been in multiple threads on the last week where the comment or is vehemently arguing with other people about things clearly stated in the title.
At least one guy admitted that he stopped reading the title halfway through.

Companies are people too.
People that can't go to jail or face any long-term consequences and they intentionally commit the largest number of crimes in the world and steal the most money from people and ruin the most lives.
But they are people too. We can't forget that. It's the corner stone of society.
Won't someone please think of the poor shareholders. They need a second yacht so their dog can travel with them in style.

Obviously her face down demeanor meant she had one of those new desk guns where you use your face to turn a desk into a gun.
They had to shoot her.
How else could they have made sure that they were safe?

I agree to an extent.
Doesn't there have to be a limit somewhere.
Like if there was a publicly displayed art exhibition that looked so realistic and depicted a situation requiring police intervention?
If this becomes a common issue then there should at least be a process where police and emergency responders are notified of such an exhibit.
Maybe I'm just not thinking about it through the right lense, but this isn't a case of police saying what can be done in a gallery.
The argument is that this is a waste of resources and could lead to actual crimes in this area not being taken seriously, right?

No. I glanced through that assholes comment history because something about his answer bugged me. He used his state of residency to try to make himself an expert on how well democrats are running different states. It felt strange to think about it that way.
It also turns out that he makes extremely hateful comments about women and casually drops excuses for why it's okay for him to say racist things to people he works with.
Did you really think that I just assumed that guy was a racist who hated women because of that one vague statement? It took all of two minutes of reading his comment history to determine whether I should put value on anything that guy said. Why do you think I listed such specific examples?
The bottom line is that you might not be an asshole, but if you find yourself agreeing with assholes then maybe you should rethink your position.
Look through that assholes profile and tell me whether or not he is the kind of person you want to agree with philosophically.
You also aren't giving any evidence to back up your claims. I asked you a question and you completely ignored it.
Now I ask you, do I have all this right? Am I off base on anything I am saying?

Well, the insinuation you are making is that you are more intelligent than the other people in this thread.
And you seem to agree with the racist, mysigonistic guy you replied to.
So I would love to hear your take on exactly how Democrats/non-Republicans are messing up California in a way comparable to Florida and Texas.

Based on your activity in the r/MensRights and comments about veterans being the only group worth your volunteer time and how all women don't want sex from their husbands (just other people) and the way you justify using casual racism in your workplace, you seem to be more in the Republican camp. At the very least the viewpoints you express are not in line with progressive ideals.
It is pretty disingenuous to talk about being from California as if it is all progressive politics when you yourself are part of the regressive political mindset that is directly in line with the Republican thought process.
California has a bunch of Republicans and conservatives, which would include you if I had to guess based solely on the derogatory way you talk about women in society and the casual way you talk about how it is okay to use racist language in the workplace.
But you know what, maybe you are the one conservative that actually has some facts to back up the bullshit. What are the "problems" that Democrats are causing in California?

My wife has maintained that if men had to go through what women do physically the entire world would be different.
Her main example is pregnancy. If men could get pregnant we would have already figured out a way to pop that fetus into a tube and have it grow at home because men would not put up with being pregnant and all that comes with it for 9 months.

So, what you are saying is that a private homeowner can be racist, sexist, or whatever kind of bigot they want. And they can choose to openly discriminate against other people using that bigoted world view when selling their home.
However, as soon as a real estate agent gets involved, that is where the laws start to kick in because that agent is a legal entity in a commercial transaction instead of a regular citizen selling something to a regular citizen.
(I know you aren't condoning the bigotry we are talking about here, but I just like to make sure I understand.)
No law can prevent an individual from being racist and acting according to their racism, as long as they are doing it as a private citizen. The moment they move into a commercial enterprise, operating under a business license, using a realtor, etc. they are then beholden to the law.
Which is why a private seller can do whatever they want.
But let's say that a seller was going through a real estate agent. The seller makes it very clear that they will not sell their home to a black person. The agent brings the offers to the seller and the top bid also has one of these love letters in them revealing that the family buying the home is black.
The seller refuses that offer and instructs the realty agent to accept a lower offer from another family because they refuse to sell to a black person.
In this instance, would someone be in violation of the law? If so, who?
Or does the real estate agent need to be the one actually committing the racial discrimination?
