Pretty sick. I liked how how you played with the stereo by panning certain sounds from left to right. A nice mix. I went ahead and played some sounds of light rain in the background which for me enhanced the experience alot. I wish i had some decent headphones to really immerse myself. Is this you? I liked the main piano. I liked how it had, imo, the right amount of reverb on it. One thing that bothered me was that the rap drums in the intro aren't that strong and actually betray the level of skill that shows up later. When the guitars start ripping and the live drums take over its a much different song. For the intro drum's i'd suggest a different snare and maybe some effects on the drums in that pattern as a whole to help them feel like their building towards the guitar and live drums. Nice job on the rock parts though for sure. Keep at it dude! (If this is you lol)

We are a female fronted metal band formed in 2020, with the intention to just learn some covers and play live. Unfortunately (or fortunately) there was this pandemic and we started to write our own material and the focus shifted to make originals instead. Our first EP, Follow me, was released in the summer of 2021, and later we filmed a music video for the title track.

Our second EP Silhouette was released in May.

We recently released our latest single called Maybe and we would appreciate if you could give it a listen and give us feedback! Thank you for reading this far! Our socials can be found under the Linktree-link.

Was not expecting for the song to hit right away. That was a pleasant surprise. Idk who is on what instrument but everyone is killing their role! The vocals are sung well and the guitars know their role. My only gripe from a mixing standpoint was i felt like the lower mid EQ for the vocalist could have been brought down a little bit to give it more radiance and stand out from the mids of the other instruments. But this is a minor gripe. I think you guys did an awesome job, i enjoyed it. You must rock live. Wishing you the best of luck in your careers!

I wrote "How Do You Want To Be Great?" as part of the NBA2K Beats The Search Contest to have my music potentially used in the game. While they didn't choose it as a contest winner, I'm still very happy with how the song came out, so I released it on Friday. First verse pumps up the listener. Second verse is about paths to greatness. Third is about motivations for greatness. Definitely about basketball, but also a lot of metaphors about different ways to make a positive impact upon others.

I'm glad you're happy with the song. From a composition standpoint, i suggest working with instrumentals that are a little calmer. It helps for simpler chords to be played so that listener can focus in on your lyrics more without competing with the pianos. And for your flow, i'd suggest taking some words out so you can fit into the pockets of the rhythm more. I understand you have a message, but it actually loses it's impact if you try to word cram. Its good that you're trying to rap with some meaning though. Keep at it dude.

I produce hip-hop too, so if you get a sec, here's me taking my power back from a harsh life.

mmmusic79 t1_it4u61k wrote

I've recorded over 200 songs. Some of my compositions are a lot more complex. Others are simpler. It always depends on what I'm going for. For this song, I wanted the energy to pick up more in the second verse, which the piano definitely helps increase, before dropping the complexity of the piano in the third verse when it becomes more contemplative. Listeners will pick up on new things with each listen, so I'm ok if they miss a few things the first time through as long as the general feel and meaning are there, which they definitely are.

I listened to Bad Minute. Lots of energy, and obviously a song you're passionate about, which is always what matters most in music. The grimey quality to the vocal delivery reminds me of Onyx. "Slam! Duh-du-duh." Great job on the song!

I liked the opening mysterious tone around the melodies, almost like a documentary about space. The pianos later reminded me of parasite eve. With the mixing though, I did think that the hi-hats where a little loud. I'd also suggest adding some reverb (not delay) to some of your percussion to help it blend. My last suggestion would be to use a compressor on the pianos to shave off some of that little extra to get a nice cohesive blend. Cool stuff man. Keep creating!

Congratz on your new release. I like how it seemed like it had some folk influences in there as well. From a writing standpoint everything is solid. I'd say the thing that detracts from this is the mixing. Particularly when the electric guitar rips it's solo, i found it pretty quiet. I also think the lower mids on the vocals could have been trimmed down in the EQ to make it clearer. Cool lyrics. Nice job ya'll.

I gave a few tracks a listen. You've got some strong lyrics here. Simple, but effective. One of my biggest gripes was that, aside from 'I Don't', alot of the songs start the exact same way with almost the same note. I Don't is played different and even has a different guitar effect so it got my attention. I think switching it up just a little bit on record with some piano, or even just different pedals would really make a difference. But you do have a talent for songwriting and should keep rockin dude!

It’s a song I made with a friend. Ended up adding some orchestral stuff with midi but I didn’t really know how to end it. Recorded the vocals a while ago; I think they’re a bit rough. It’s about some person named Cindy who I never met but just used as a subject for a cheesy love song. I most recently added the bass guitar, drums, and lead guitar to the ending and I like how it turned out, although it might be a bit loud and abrupt compared to the previous parts.

Lyrically well written and presented well with your vocal style. I liked the simplicity of it, how you didn't overdo the synth hits, and let the meaning of the song do the heavy lifting. I did find that the synth felt pretty isolated from the guitar and vocal recording, almost as if they're two different songs that got mixed together, which i found a little jarring in this context. Did you record the singing and guitar together and then add the synths later? Either way, nice job dude.

Nice beat choice, even your flow had a kind of Nujabes feel to it. I think the doubles where kind of unnecessary tho. If you really like them, i suggest cutting up and moving them so the syllables match in time a little better, i'd also suggest lowering the volume on those. For the vocals as a whole, I suggest shaving down the low end on your eq and using a basic compressor to even out the sound so you mix in with the beat better. I like how your lyrics seemed purposeful. You should keep writing man, i'm curious how you progress. Keep at it.

One of the positive of the album was how different the guitar playing was on each track. I particularly like the intro on Any Other Way. Leave Me Alone was cool too. Cool grungy style. The mix has good levels. Everything is panned as it should be too especially the guitars, which make nice room for the vocals. I did find that it lacks a bit of vibrancy, presence, and color though. I also noticed a distinct lack of presence from the bass line which makes the high lack a prominent contrast. Same with the kick drum. I'd suggest boosting the signal for the bass or kick a little bit and then compressing it down so the qualities that are there are a little more prominent without competing with the levels of the drums. Great job with the hats and crashes though, those can always get annoying. With the master, try using some free saturation plugins to give the final product a little more color. Keep at it guys. Nice job and keep rocking!

"I literally can't even" anymore. I always coasted as a hipster on college radio to keep my ear to the ground for fresh tracks and now everything is so mashed up, slowed down, rained on, chilled-out, dubbed, etc. etc... I don't even know.

My algos decided I like this rain version of The Wisp Sings - Winter Aid, which may be slowed, more than the original (first track) and a bunch of others.

I like Mr. Kitty - After Dark, and the other Mr. Kitty - After Dark that's a bit slower and lo-fi. It seemed much simpler when I just enjoyed Perturbator- I Am the Nigh (album full). I don't even know how to process all the different takes.

I remember being able to flex when people where like, "have you heard m83?" and I'm thinking the eponymously named album or a track like M83 - Moonchild.

Sick, have i commented on your stuff before? Honestly, i like how it got kind of weird and off-key. It was like the song was darkening and descending into something else. Unfortunately, I don't think the song itself had any kind of impactful pay off for that descending feeling. Would have been cool to have a dropout or beat drop-in or just some kind of change to match that the feeling was going somewhere. Other than that, it's a well composed track. You should make some kind of music video for this if you haven't already. Nice job.

You've got a nice voice and good control on your notes. I think as you progress you'll develop even more control as you hit the notes in your range well. Its very chill. My only critique is that the instrumental lacked any kind of "texture" which made everything feel simple and lack a bit of depth. Your song 'slippin' doesn't seem to have this problem. Otherwise I think you have good foundational strengths and you're going to be making some really good music if you continue. Keep at it!

I listened to Enoch, A very beautiful intro. The way the track grew was very pretty and immersive. Factory gave me a similar feeling. I really like how diverse everything was. None of the songs really sounded all that similar. My only complaint would be the mixing on the acoustic guitar on most of the tracks. I felt like the lower mids could have been EQ'd down to help them blend with the other instruments more. Other than that, no real complaints. Really good job on this project dude.

Irrelevant to the song, but nice hair dude lol. Very 50 Cent style beat. I feel like the second verse was significantly better than the second. I know it's rap but the only thing that bothered was the lyrics where kind of all over the place. I could never catch the stream of consciousness. I'd like to hear your voice on some French Montana/swizz beats style drums. Keep at it dude!

Dude, this is sick. The timbre of the piano sounds awesome. This is some soundtrack level stuff. Especially around 1:05 that sounds like a horrifying revelation after a long movie. You do a good job not overdoing the electronic bits and allowing everything to work in tandem. Awesome texture work, like something below the surface. In general the mixing is very good, I found the piano just a little loud sometimes and could be compressed just a tiny bit more, but overall a good feel. Great job dude.

The intro was a pleasant surprise. You hold the notes pretty well. I thought the mix was really good up until 0:38, then i feel like the vocals could be compressed a bit more and having the low end EQ shaved a bit more. But honestly, it's very modern and pretty well written. I think a song like this could be popular. You should try to get it on some "Vibe." or "Modern chill" playlists if you havent yet. You should keep writing dude, i think you've got a bright future in music.

This is a new song for an album on the way, "Empty Shelves & Fraying Spines" (single version), released just this morning. It's rather "acid jazz" if you take that term literally. Dark jazz, ethereal wave, and semi-ambient. If you live along the northeastern Wisconsin coast, you could possibly love this.

1

MannyGrey t1_itnnazv wrote

Much more ambient than I expected. I like the constant in and outs of certain qualities than lead more to a texture based song than a melodic one. Like Silent Hill in a waiting room. It gave the song some variance. It won't be everyone's cup of tea but I rock with it. Mixing is solid too. Nice job. I like Willimantic Structures too btw.

The intro was cool, i really enjoyed the female vocalist. Her voice has pop-punk qualities for sure. I liked the lyrics, but i felt like most lines had one more word than they needed. It missed the pocket by an inch and took away from the feel for me. For example
"I don't want to hurt you and i don't want to stop this long lasting friendship.

But I'm bad at keeping secrets and i feel i should say this.

I just might like you." could have been

"I don't want to hurt you [, ] i don't want to stop this, long lasting friendship.

[]I'm bad at keeping secrets,[] i feel i should say this.

I just might like you."

Those little conjunctional absences make each line even more powerful, memorable, and even give your vocalist more time to breath when performing live which helps with stamina. This same problem persists though most of the song but is more evident in the male vocalists section. Other than that, I enjoyed the song, its well mixed, and think you guys have something cool here. Nice job.

This is my 11-year old son’s studio-recorded song, OCEAN OF TEARS, about the social isolation he felt after getting off of his ADHD medication that was causing negative side-effects. It was a “between a rock and a hard place” situation for him because getting off the medication meant that he would be grappling with hyperactivity that he was unable to control, and that his peers found to be annoying. As his father I’m clearly biased, but I think this song is worth a listen because he is able to articulate and express his pain in a way that is heartbreaking and moving to me. Check it out.

Hey y'all, underground rapper, Artisan P from Tallahassee, released his debut album this past Friday on our label. For fans of boom-bap and lo-fi. This song in particular was produced by denhead (Steven and David from the band Dikembe). This song stands out a bit from the rest of the album, being a little more upbeat. But the sample is really interesting, and Artisan P raps his ass off on here.
