hudson grill is useful for a breakfast sandwich when i am hungover on Saturdays or a mediocre sandwich or salad when i am at work at harborside, but is 1000% not where i would go for any type of chicken cutlet scenario. venti food truck 100%. 2nd street bakery. hoboken Italian places.

Cool. Your post was deliberately misleading as we have a “village” neighborhood here and also useless to people who are discussing grocery options in jersey city.

the village in MANHATTAN is of little use to me for groceries.

nice to see actual construction equipment outside, but those escalators have been there for like a year plus

lol 'just' 1.8 inches of rain
if it were cold enough 1.8 inches of rain is like 2 feet of snow. that's a shitload of water to fall from the sky in a short period.

this is a dumb question, but are all of those digital services accessible remotely or do you need to be physically present at a library to use them?
great post by the way. thanks.

nice. the one by grove street has a bunch of shake shack branded window dressing now, and my gf peaked in the other day and said inside looks like a mostly ready shake shack

lol. this particular AI tool does consistently resemble your work, but your work and work of your style predates the AI so the AI is copying you, not the other way around. it is very fun and interesting tho.

that is very nice. i was curious how the midjourney AI bot would do with the same idea. i fed it 'astor place in new york city on a warm autumn day' and it gave me this:

when i moved here from nyc i went to secaucus mvc to get my car inspected for NJ. i went super early to avoid a shitshow of a line. the views of sunrise over manhattan from up that way are incredible

i park in an outdoor attended lot, not a garage, but same idea. we have monthly parkers and day/hourly parkers. pretty much the monthly people are allowed to go park themselves in the back rows, and the daily people need to leave their keys with the attendants and then they tetris them in like 4 cars deep, and the day parkers are supposed to notify the attendants that their coming to get their car about 20 min in advance so they can tetris it. i have never not gotten a spot in my lot. worst comes to worst i leave them my key and they tetris me. hardly ever.

he said his job is in a 'suburb' of jc. I'm curious what that means, but at a minimum it seems to imply his job isn't mass transit accessible.
and the default 'dont have a car' kneejerk is silly. one of the main reasons i left NYC for jc was that it was much more reasonable and affordable and practical to keep a car here. i walk to work, but i recreate outside of jc/nyc. for the lifestyle i want to live, i want a car. living in jc enables having it.

you would be 15 minutes from manhattan (or less) in downtown jersey city. you are in journal square. you'd have a much more manhattan-y vibe here downtown with at least a smattering of 'hip' restaurants and bars and a young professionals sort of typical neighbor. the slightest bit of research should have cleared this up for you in advance. street parking is also easier downtown as you only need to shuffle one day a week in downtown zones if you get a residents permit. you can also get a parking lot downtown for under $300, which would be unheard of in manhattan or most of Brooklyn.
FYI, since you are speaking of street parking and you seem pretty new in town, you do need to go get a residents parking permit to be allowed to leave your car on the streets during posted hours for longer than 2 hours. to do this you will need to update your license registration and title to new jersey. this will take time and require planning and at least one visit to your friendly NJ MVC office. the residents permit is unavailable to you if you live in a large building that offers its own parking, even if said on-site parking is prohibitively expensive for you. enjoy!
i am also curious about what a 'suburb of jersey city' means. i wasn't aware we had any... i find it fairly hard to believe that you applied for and accepted a job involving a cross-country move without understanding damn well that the job was located in new jersey, not new york.

serious question/no snark - obviously i am against 'slavery'. but i am not really necessarily against imprisoned people being forced to work if they are physically and mentally able to work and if they are not willing to work by their own choice. i am also fine with that work paying very marginally. would this amendment prohibit prison labor?

You aren’t missing anything, and I generally leave it to people smarter than me to work this stuff out. There are kinks but I also think legit use cases once the kinks are sorted

Off the top of my head - instead of a hard serial number in the bag, a dynamic one - for example, to sign into that jpmc job, I had a keychain that generated a 6 digit code which changed every few minutes. Something like that could change in real time with the digital token of authenticity to validate the pairing
KustyTheKlown t1_is6yqii wrote
Reply to comment by badquarter in I painted Jersey City with watercolor by majozaur
not being facetious when i say have you ever tried to trace chain of title using county recorder's offices? i worked in contested foreclosure legal for JPMC for a number of years after the gfc and it was a goddamn fucking mess. NFT deed/title will make arduous title disputes basically irrelevant.
i think the use case is even stronger and more obvious for commonly counterfeited luxury goods. your birkin bag is deemed genuine by being paired with an authentcity token which transfers with the bag and is linked to a serial that cant be counterfeited.
re: losing your wallet - i presume there would be redundancies. like the county would maintain a parallel back-up chain. but i haven't given that much thought.
my main point is that NFTs have interesting future use cases that have nothing to do with digital art ownership, which i think was one of the worst possible uses to roll out publicly, bc it is so fucking dumb
